of all the things that come out of this CBA negotiations, I really hope they get a hard cap put in place...I know the players are against it(probably because they dont want to give up their rediculous contracts).

but it would make the sport alot better. the NFL and NHL have hard caps and their leagues are alot more competitive because of it...if something isnt done now, youll end up with 2-3teams  stacking their teams with as many "superstars" as possible and the league just wont be fun anymore...we're already trending in that direction

a hard cap will even the playing field where if you want to acquire a melo/stoudemire or lebron/wade/bosh you wont be able to spend as much on quality roleplayers to surround them. it will encourage building a great TEAM rather than teaming together as many superstars as possible who can play ISO ball..

If you saw Billy Hunter's comments from today he basically said a hard cap would kill the NBA's "middle class"; teams would continue to pay the stars big money but everyone else would see a drastic reduction in salary.  I think he's probably right and teams could still stack 2 or 3 stars and just fill in the rest of the roster.

The owners don't want to pay non-star players $8-11m range salaries, and I think they have a point.
