Trade Ray Allen + Draft Pick for Barea and Chandler

MAVS:
JKidd, Terry
Ray Allen, Stevenson
Shawn Marion / Caron Butler
Dirk
Haywood/the Custodian

CELTICS:
Rondo-West
Barea-West
Pierce-Green
KG-Draft Pick
Chandler-Draft Pick/FA

::)Smart move by the Mavericks. Trade Chandler after his first year where they won an NBA championship. People we are better than this.

I don't like Butler at the MLE.  And it has nothing to do with his game or his injury.  Adding Butler essentially negates the idea of playing Jeff Green anywhere else but at the 4, which is not his strong suit.  Sure, I know we all like to say that Butler will be the "backup 2" and Green will be the "backup 3," but even if Doc cuts down on Ray and Paul's minutes, they'll both still play at least 30 mpg (and let's face it, probably more).  If that's the case, it's going to be very tough to find either Green or Butler more than 20 mpg.

And to me, it seems silly to blow the whole MLE on Butler when we have such dire need of big men.  I think we're a far better team bringing back West and Green (and letting them handle all the backup minutes at the 1-3) and then spending the MLE on the best big man that money can buy.

Butler is just too redundant with Green in terms of position (not game) to be enough of a net gain.

I don't think Dallas has a financial problem in re-signing all of their free agents + any hard cap or decreases in spending will likely be phased in than brought in immediately in order to avoid top teams gutting their rosters.

Agreed, but I think they'll let Stevenson walk now that they have Rudy Fernandez.
I think Dallas resigns Chandler, Butler and Barrea.  I don't understand why people are so concerned about Dallas having 3 PGs (Kidd, Barrea, Beaubois).  Its a nice luxury given that one of them is old and will likely retire after next year.

To the OP: I pass on the idea of Butler for MLE.  He'll probably get more than that from Dallas, and I don't think he'd be a great fit with Pierce and Green (unless it is a S&T with Green).  Plus, I worry about that injury.
Celtics fan for life.

Jef Green, Caron Butler, and Paul Pierce all on one team serves no purpose
