Not sure -- leaning towards Wilt since he was on his best behaviour for that one season.

Do you mean most valuable player or is it irregardless of position?
Philly:

Anderson Varejao    Tiago Splitter    Matt Bonner
David West    Kenyon Martin    Brad Miller
Andre Iguodala    Josh Childress    Marquis Daniels
Dwyane Wade    Leandro Barbosa
Kirk Hinrich    Toney Douglas   + the legendary Kevin McHale

Here's why I ask.  I'd take Russell and your average SG over Jordan and your average C any day.  When building a team, a dominant C is way more important than a dominant SG, even if Jordan is the more talented player.

I'm sticking with Jordan, considering that Russell dominated during an era when the NBA was made up of only 9-15 teams and scouting was no where near as thorough as it was in the post Bird/Magic era.

It is extremely hard to win a title in a league of 25-30 teams. The NBA rosters are so diluted, even on the championship teams - despite the influx of international players. A star has to do even more to carry their teammates.

But its close. Russell was one of the greatest. And center is such a valuable position.

It's Jordan and it isn't close.  Russell wasn't the best player in his era, that would be Wilt, but they are close that it would be hard to vote for either.  Jordan had no peer in the 90's and thus he is the only possible selection in this category.
2025 Historical Draft - Cleveland Cavaliers - 1st pick

Starters - Luka, JB, Lebron, Wemby, Shaq
Rotation - D. Daniels, Mitchell, G. Wallace, Melo, Noah
Deep Bench - Korver, Turner

Because Jordan dominated a weak era he's automatically the best?

Kobe, LeBron, and Duncan but no Dr. J?  And someone actually voted for Kobe?

He dominated against Wilt and Big O

Jordon dominated against the Dream and Ewing.

11 vs. 6

I wanted to say Bird but that wouldn't be true. MJ is the sole reason so many of the NBA's best ever (Stockton, Malone, Ewing, etc...) never won so I have to give it to him.
