I'd be for it, unfortunately he was eaten by Davis so this is a moot point.

I suspect foul play...

Murphy's issues are medical--bad back i think--if the Dr's clear him we will not do better, --fantasy bball had him a top 50 player going into last year.

One year deal without using the MLE or LLE, yes.

I would sign him.  This is his "re-establishing his value" year.  His chance to earn that last large contract.

Yeah vet min I would go for it. Anything else, I pass. He didnt show me any sign of hope last year. I know he wasnt playing for most of the year but still. The guy was pretty horrid in his limited time on the court.

Troy Murphy averaged a double-double in 5 of the 11 years he's been in the NBA. Before going to NJ in 09-10, he averaged 16 points and 11 rebounds for the Pacers. Unfortunately, when the Celtics picked him up during the stretch drive, he was out of NBA shape.

One of the lesser priorities would be to re-sign him then. The potential for his comeback is about the same as getting a good big from the draft or the free agency but he is less risky and costly.

It has to be doubtful that  a 25th pick rookie would be ready to contribute much--certainly not close to the Murphy of 2 years ago.

If Murphy has injury issues that have been corrected we probably can not do better--name some free agents?
