I think the chances are very slim. The Lakers now have Kobe Bryant unleashed from Phil and Mike Brown coaching triangle.

When the Celtics and the Lakers meet up in the finals next time, maybe Rondo and Jeff Green will still be there, but I don't think a lot of either team will be returning.

A part of me is sad to see things turn out like this.

LA should have every motivation to get back there after this season's playoff showing.

Plus, I think as the season wears on, Kobe will adjust his game...he must. He'll realize that he just cannot do it by himself and he'll defer more to Gasol and Bynum.

If he doesn't then LA's toast. They could very well be toast anyway - even with Kobe making the necessary changes. MEM and OKC will only get better and DAL, while older, will still be very competitive.

Boston? This could very well be THIS core's last run together. I think that Danny will do what is necessary to keep this group together this season while adding a key piece here or there.

Plus, Boston has its own motivation - MIA. A healthy Rondo (and maybe Shaq/JO returning?) could get us over the hump.

There are a lot of obstacles...both teams are older, for one...but I would not be surprised to see Boston and LA go one more round next June.

sad to see it too. i doubt it will happen again as well. Looks like we'll have to be content with going 1-1. What really gets to me though is that year KG got injured. If only he hadn't, we likely would've had a rematch on our hands.

True.  We're so lucky that we had that one chance to win it all.  I enjoyed more than anything.  It was a long 22 years.  And obliterating the Lakers in 6 games made it the best possible scenario to win it.  Sure, they won last year, but barely, and it was on their court and we were missing our starting center.  At least the C's went down swinging.  The Lakers in '08 were humiliated.

I don't think we'll see a rematch in long time.  C's and Lakers both need some key additions to get back to the Finals and have some tough, young teams (that will also be adding more talent to improve themselves) to get by to get to the Finals again. 

Each team's best hopes for next year is a shorter season that isn't crammed with back-to-backs, good health and the key additions that each team needs.  For LA, a better PG, SF and PF/C off the bench.  For Boston, a starting C and backup SG that can score/defend and PF that can rebound/score.

I think we get back there before they do.  For now, we'll probably just have to settle for the old sister kiss.

This hurts, but the Heat will come out of the East just about every year for a long time now. So no, we won't see a Celtics/Lakers Final for a long time.
