In general I'm a numbers person. Sometimes they can be skewed but for the most part they don't lie. If you want to express an opinion you need to back it up with facts or numbers, otherwise it holds no weight. That's why I laugh at all the we tanked because we traded Perkins comments. The team tanked last year WITH him as the starting center. He did not contribute to the teams 1st place record prior to the trade. Now what's the real reason for the C's demise this year: it's the loss of the big deisel of course!
2010-11 Regular Season
Record when Shaq appeared: 28-9
Record when Shaq played 21 minutes or more: 20-4
Record w/o Shaq at all: 28-17
No we didn't go back in time 10 years with Shaq giving us 25 and 12. But he was the perfect complimentary piece to the big three and Rondo, and what we were lacking in this whole era (with Perk); a reliable inside presence that could convert the easy buckets which are so common with the talent on this team, put the other team in the penalty early, and also create for other players (passing the ball to Perk typically resulted in an offensive dead end).
I could go on and on, but I will let the numbers speak for themselves.
