To those with medical background, please fill us lay-folks in on the physiology of a hyper-extended or dislocated elbow.
Let's assume that the MRI reveals nothing broken or torn (I am assuming he couldn't have come out and done what he did if the damage was that severe). What does the hyper-extension or dislocation mean in terms of limiting his strength or mobility? What is the likelihood of re-injury with less impact (in other words, does he dislocate it again with just a minor impact fall)?
Under normal circumstances, what would the timeframe for recovery be?
Under circumstances where he is playing every other day, when could we reasonbably hope that his elbow is healing -- or is he going to struggle throughout the playoffs regardless.
Thanks!
