As we all know, Shaq has said that after this 2 year deal is up, he's officially retiring.

But I'm pretty sure that this year did not go how he would've liked.

Will anyone be truly surprised if he doesn't play at all in these playoffs?

Would it also surprise anyone if he doesn't play more then 10 games next year if he's still around?

Honestly, if the Cs don't win it all this year and we don't see him, he should just retire

I think he will and should retire but it would be sad to see one of the greatest players of all time limping off the floor at his final game.
I hope as all of us he will retire this year as a CHAMPION.

If there is a lockout, there may be only 10 games next year. ;)

Well he was playing very well the beginning of the season.  If he could do that again in a shortened season I'd take him back.

If he can get as healthy as he was in the beginning of season, and his health was strictly monitored, he would still be an asset at 15 minutes pr game. But even a Diesel runs out of fuel.

Depends on this season goes.  If he bounces back and plays 15-20 mpg on the way to banner #18, I think it's a lot different than if he comes back and limps through the playoffs on the way to a second round loss.

I don't think there is any reason for Shaq to retire unless this injury is going to be a recurring problem for him or if this injury is a debilitating injury that hurts his play.

Shaq showed earlier this season that he still a quality basketball player and well worth regular minutes on a top quality NBA team. He should return if he still enjoys playing this game and is able to play at that level.

I think he should, just like Rasheed Wallace did. When a player notices he isn't capable of giving the game and its fans his best of abilities due to age, injury, or any other reason then its time to  say adios to the game. If he doesn't they can keep him on the inactive list so he can mentor the younger guys by staying with the team.

he's toast.  no matter what happens in the playoffs this year, he should retire.

yeah earlier this season...try like 50 games ago.  It feels like a lifetime ago now when he actually helped the Celtics on the court.  I can't take the whole "when he was out there" argument seriously.  Because he hasn't "been out there" for many months now
