Hey everyone.  Many of you on here know me, many probably don't.  Since the birth of my daughter and my new company, I am not as active as I was in the past - but I still lurk every now and again.  I am here to ask a favor of my fellow CB'ers.

Last year, my father was diagnosed with a very rare disease called Amyloidosis.  It is a degenerative disease that affects every organ in the body over time.  My father lost most of his kidney function and was forced to have emergency surgery the day after Thanksgiving last year.  He was under sedation and on a respirator for 19 days.  I wasn't sure if I would ever speak with my Dad again.

Well, he pulled through and now is doing his best to deal with his illness one day at a time.  He is on dialysis 3x a week and has regular nurses visits to his house for care.  He is only 59 years old....

Now, to the point... My father is the man who gave me green blood.  He instilled a love for the Celtics in me that rivals that of the biggest fan anyone can find.  I eat, sleep and breathe Celtics basketball because of him.

I wrote a short essay about my father's illness and the importance of the Celtics in our lives and submitted it for the Celtics Banner Moments.  I got an email on Monday that we were selected as top 10 finalists!  Between now and Friday, people can vote at celtics.com for their favorite "Banner Moment"  The winner gets a luxury suite for the first playoff game.  If we won, I would be able to take my father with me as he could be comfortable in a suite and watch our beloved Celtics together in the playoffs!

So I ask, if you would, please take a minute to vote for us.  This would mean so much to us both to be able to win this contest.  Every vote counts and you can vote once per day.  Here is the link to read my short essay and vote for us.  Your support is much appreciated!  Thanks guys!

good luck, celtsrp33, and the best wishes for you, your dad and your family. I just voted in the celts website.

I hope you both can watch the Celtics win their first game in this year's playoffs in that luxury suite.

Go Celtics!

Good luck, man.  I've got to say, it was tough voting against the family that lost their son to cancer, but CelticsBlog loyalty forever!

Best luck to you and your dad, and I hope you guys win.
