Anyone know why he's playing so many minutes lately?

He had 38:00 in the Chicago loss, and he looked really out of it  for most of the game (only 7 points).

Any idea why Doc is playing him so much? He's our 2nd oldest player and it's somewhat perplexing.

Ray loves to play... He much rather be out there playing than sitting on the bench...

We don't have a legit back up SG?

We didn't really have a consistent backup 3 or 2 all season long.

It really is amazing how well both PP and RA have played this year.

The long grueling 82 game regular season has caught up with both of our star wing players.

The real question is: Why is RayRay playing so many minutes ... when he's scoring so few points? Though he's a pretty good defender, his main purpose is scoring, pure and simple, so if he's not doing that, put in someone who's at least as good as him on defense, and just as likely to score 7-10 points (such as Pavlovic).

Wafer's healthy again yet seems to have fallen out of favor, and we went out and got Pavlovic, and we could play DWest at the 2 and Arroyo at the 1. Yet Doc is availing himself of exactly zero of these options lately.

That's Doc for you. Stubborn. He feels by allowing Ray to stay despite dismal shooting, is his hope that he'll get hot along the way. However, tonight that wish remained a wish to the end.

None of those guys are exactly consistent Celtic backups.

They are not Tony Allen.

Isn't Von Wafer supposed to be a SG backup?

He can drive to the lane and knock down 3s.

What's the point of keeping Ray in for so long if he isn't scoring at all. He killed us tonight both offensively and defensively.

Doc's coaching decisions lately are really confusing me.

i agree shouldnt we be giving confidence to some of these guys ( wafer, murph, sasha etc etc) we are going to need some of them during the playoffs. if doc doesnt play them they wont be able to do anything because of rust and confidence.  its very confusing. its like he wants to run them into the ground. i know they want to win these games but at some point if you have to see what they have and if they will help you. we were gassed last year because of this same reason. in my opinion

This is precisely correct (TP) ... Doc wants to get Ray out of his funk, and while it's failing at the moment, I have to say that it needs to be done. Ray has a long history as a shooter, and this is what gets him going again ... cutting his minutes now would only exacerbate the problem. And welcome to CelticsBlog, RGN07!
