If the Celtics are fully healthy and in form (getting good defensive contributions from the O'Neals), they are overwhelming favourites versus the Lakers. It should be over in 5 games.

So if a Celtics fan says he/she doesnot think the Celtics are going to win the championship this year or that they won't be favorites to win it, then that means they are saying the sky is falling?  ::)

It's the flip side of anyone who thinks the Celts have a decent chance of winning being blind homers with green colored glasses, much like last year. Not that I mind, it's always great to have more room on the bandwagon after it empties out late in the season.

Right... because thinking we have a "decent chance of winning" is the same as declaring ourselves the prohibitive favorites against the 2x Defending Champions.

Who in this thread declared the Celts prohibitve favorites? Not me.

I don't know why is its so hard to swallow for some of you. Theres nothing complicated about it and its not really even up for debate.

Funny how much time you're spending debating something that isn't up for debate. It's fine if you want to give up on the season. I don't know why you're so upset that everyone else isn't ready to join you on that ledge.

It's a lot easier to drink the green kool aid and say "yeah, we're the favorites" while calling out anyone who disagrees as long as no one asks you to back it up with any substantial evidence.

Do you have any substantial evidence that we can't beat the Lakers? Do you get a better view of the world through your purple and gold glasses, drinking the Kobe kool-aid?

If we reach the Finals, it obviously means we're playing pretty well.  Of course, the Lakers will have continued their roll, as well, and will have home court advantage.

At that point, I think the Lakers would be the favorites with the media and in Vegas, while in reality the series would be a toss up.

About like I see it.

I believe the Lakers were the favorites in '08 and last year as well so it doesn't mean much.

Old enough to know there's not much difference between telling people to stop drinking the green kool-aid and to take off the green glasses and saying someone's wearing purple and gold glasses. And you?

Relax people.

Speculating who will be "favorites" in the final is ridiculous because we don't even KNOW who will be in the finals and how teams will be playing.

A lot can change between here and the finals.
Celtics' turn on switch for the playoffs: the last bastion of hope for battered Celtic fans.

And someday in the midst of time,
When they ask you if you knew me
Remember that you were a friend of mine

Well, I don't know about being the Favorites, but as long as we can keep our core healthy (especially KG), I love our opportunity.

Pau Gasol. Must keep him in check, KG. IMO Gasol is the key.

i think BYNUM is becoming the key to the Laker's success.  He is turning into an animal recently...The Celtics need every big man than can get just for foul purposes...I think that is why the another reason why the HEAT are stocking up on centers, just to wear out Bynum.

Lakers aren't making it to the Finals. As much as fans want a rematch, I don't see them going far

Their peaking to early, for their ego to show the media that they are back to being championship contenders. And fans keep overlooking their horrible bench. They can never preserve a lead, and force the starters to play more minutes then they should

I've had the same thoughts. Obviously for both LA and Boston to get back to the finals it's going to be a long shot.
I too feel they've peaked too early. They are basically playing 6-7 guys each night with Blake dumped in their for 6-7 mins a game.

I don't know where all this 'Green Glasses' stuff is directed. No one has said we are 100% to make the finals. It may very well be wishful thinking. But when the time comes, and IF every thing pans out like it's supposed to (such as what happened last year), I'm asking the question of if our bench overrides LA's home court advantage.
Media would pick LA for the three peat- as would most bookies.
But I want to know what the most die hard Celtics fans think in this situation. I'm not asking whether or not we'll make it back. I'm asking if we do, with a specific match up against LA, are we the faves?
I feel it's a valid question because I think that Danny might've traded Perk in the hopes that we wouldn't actually have to play LA because he felt there was less chance we'd see them. Luckily he's got a very cheap shaq and JO as backup in case the dreaded time does come.

"We are lucky we have a very patient GM that isn't willing to settle for being good and coming close. He wants to win a championship and we have the potential to get there still with our roster and assets."

quoting 'Greg B' on RealGM after 2017 trade deadline.
Read that last line again. One more time.

Unless we experience a major injury to the big four or to the important role players (Green, West, Baby) we will raise Banner 18.

I doubt Bynum is 100% by the time Finals start. I am really hopeful they draw Memphis or Portland in the first round. Please not NO.
