It'd be a travesty if the NBA AND NFL locked out. It'd be an utter and complete joke.

Just because one side at this  early stage says a lockout is 'very likely' doesn't make it so.  That is known as posturing.

I think a lockout is pretty likely to happen.  The stuff going down with Republicans in Wisconsin trying to crush public workers is a big sign to me that there are a lot of rich dudes who see this as their best chance at union-busting.  I really do think that the owners are not that interested in what might be a fair distribution of revenue;  they just want to bring the hammer down and regain power.  I think its all part of a bigger picture about what is going on in the economy.

Likely unavoidable.   Unlike the NFL which is making tons of money, the NBA has a lot of teams that do not make money.  The league already owns one team because they couldn't find a buyer.



As for the Celtics, they are built to start over in 2012.  They really want to see a short offseason where it is easier to sign a guy on a one year contract to fill out the bench while they try to earn their next contract.
