Dwight Howard stats vs. Celtics (Last Year's Playoffs)

I really think that we are missing the point here.  We are talking about Perk prior to tearing tow MAJOR ligaments and straining a third, if I am not correct.

What did Howard do to Perk THIS year in one quarter?

Perk does not have the same lift and may NEVER have the same lift.  He is VERY LIKELY at a high risk for re-injuring that knee or the other on, as he will likely overcompensate now.

Danny simply noticed that he was not the same player and figured that he would not guarantee him $8 million per year knowing what he knew at the time.

Time will tell if this was a wise move or not, but I bet that in 4 years this will look like pure genius.

That's not exactly true, depending on the defensive positioning we would have Rondo or another player occasionally move in for the strip.

But often that wasn't part of the scheme, rather it was Rondo seeing Dwight was unaware of his position and going for the ball. Or poor spacing by the Magic allowing doubling without opening a window for a three.

Schematically we typically did not double that is what we are saying.

So, Posey's and the Captain's defensive effort in the playoffs during our championship run must have been a fluke...it just so happened that the opponent's shots weren't falling.

Again it has to do with depth. As the OP points out Perk only played 23 minutes a game during that series, thats less than half the game. We were throwing Perk, Sheed and Baby at Howard and thats what wore him down.

Just like Pierce and Posey in 08 and Pierce,TA and Quis last year. Guys like Lebron and Howard play 40 plus minutes and our key is to have enough depth to be able to throw fresh guys out there on them to wear them down. I think it's more important for us to have a deeper solid team than a better starting line up and weaker bench.

BTW, strictly going through the box scores it appears as if the time where BBD would've covered D12 is fairly minimal. I didn't do the averages, but Sheed & Perk combined for about 35-40 minutes a night.

I'm sure there were times, but I can't recall many instances when BBD went up against Howard 1-1 in last years playoff series and the box scores seem to somewhat support that.

Rememer when KG was out and Orlando eliminated us in the ECF with Perkins as our center. That sucked.

At least the next year, when we got KG back, we beat the Magic.

Besides Magic aren't the problem this year. If I miss Perk for any reason it's because of Andrew Bynum. Perkins haaates him because he knows bynum is better. Perk was pretty good at bullyin bynum up too, though bynum usually was pretty effective against us. Pau wants nothin to do with anyone on our team, except maybe Rondo.

on a side note I just went to youtube typed in celtics vs magic, started watching the first thing that popped up and we double teamed howard on the 1st and 3rd possession of the game. The second posession was a quick perimeter shot thrown up that d12 didnt even get in on.

I stopped watching after that
