After the trade went down it got me thinking where does Jeff Green rank among small forwards today? It's a little difficult to analyze I guess since he was playing mostly out of position in OKC and will do the same at times with us. I did remember reading somewhere that Green averaged something like 25 PPG shooting a high FG% when Kevin Durant was out of the lineup. Not a huge sample size as it was only roughly 10 games but impressive nonetheless.
In the top tier you have;
James, Durant, Anthony, and Pierce.
In the next tier you have;
Gay, Iguodala, Gallinari, Granger, G Wallace, and Deng.
The third tier I'll list includes;
D Wright, Kirilenko, Beasley, G Hill, Turkoglu, S Marion, T Prince, R Lewis, N Batum, C Butler, Ariza, Artest, M Williams and R Jefferson.
You could make the case a couple more guys deserve to be in tier 2 from tier 3 and if I missed anyone please add.
Would you put J Green in the second tier or third?
It's a tough call for me although I admit I haven't seen him enough.
The more interesting question for me though is going forward which SF would you rather have for the next 5 plus years?
After the first tier I'm not sure who I would rather have than Jeff Green. Maybe Gay, Iguodala, and Granger I would take over him but that's about it.
