Why would Posey agree to a buyout? He's owed another $7.5 million next year. He wouldn't even get half that as a FA next year.
These buyout rumors are ridiculous.
Yes if he didn't want that money he would've just signed our contract originally instead.
What about sending JO over to retire in exchange? Posey is no longer capable of being our 6th guy but there's no doubt he could still help us out.
A buyout doesn't mean the player gives up all the money. It seems that the player would give up some of the money in exchange for being let go. In most cases, some equals no more than 1 million. Not that it is going to happen but would Posey give up 1 million to be let go. More importantly, would Ind do that from their end? The answer is probably not but I just wanted people to understand what generally happens in buy outs.
