to me, the Fresh Prince should be our trade target at the deadline. I won't break down his game (assuming most know what he brings to the table), but provide my reasoning.

1) He doesn't make very much. The Celtics struggle to find trade partners because they have very few matching salaries in players they'd be willing to trade (read: Nate... who no one wants);

2) He's a restricted FA this summer. The Bucks have had his services on the cheap for a few years, but that's about to change. With substantial dollars invested in Maggette, Delfino, Salmons and Ilyasova, they may be slightly more open to trading Luke now than they were previously.

3) The Bucks are going no where. They may be willing to take some young assets now for future use.

The Cs could offer Bradley, Gody & a 1st -- or just Bradley and Semih -- for Mbah a Moute and Boykins (or other cheap contract). I think there's value there for both sides, particularly for the Bucks if the Cs would be willing to give up Erden in the deal.

The Cs take some risk if they give up Semih, but i imagine Luke playing some 4 and Davis playing some 5 as part of their ongoing duties should Shaq and JO be unable to perform. And Mbah a Moute would be a huge addition off the bench vs the likes of top SFs, PFs and even SGs come playoff time. I see the Cs signing him to a TA sized deal in the offseason, keeping their costs low for 2012 when they look to attract a meaningful FA to go with Rondo, Pierce and two great defenders in LRMAM and a re-signed Perk.

Thoughts?

I think the Bucks could keep Mbah a Moute for Thabo Sefolosha money.

I expect they'd be quite interested in retaining him at that type of pay grade.

I think Bradley, Gody, and a 1st are too much. I would definitely not do Bradley and Erden, there is too much potential. And there is a chance LRMAM doesn't resign.

He's a great fit, but I don't think he's gettable. If a team is paying a rotation player that little, they're not going to trade him. Not for projects like Bradley and Erden, anyway.

If he signs with another team I would expect the Bucks to match and then trade one of the other guys.

BTW, how bad did Milwaukee screw up the offseason? Those Salmons and Gooden contracts have handcuffed them.

I love the Prince, but I am NOT willing to part with Semih in a trade for him. Semih holds too much value. It would really have to be a deal that would help us at the 3 and in the post for the future.

Other than Thibodeau, there may not be a coach in the NBA who is more defense oriented than Skiles.   Why would he give up his best defensive player when his team probably needs to make the playoffs to keep his job....Regardless of the player's contract situation?

Its a solid point. Mbah a Moute isn't his best defensive player, but he's probably his second best.

He's also Milwaukee's most one dimensional player, and on a team that is already a defensive force, that is a little clogged anyways at the 3 with a better scorer (Maggette) and a way more well rounded player (Delfino), he's also a bit of a luxury.

I don't know what Milwaukee's going to do with him, but if they over pay him, after over paying Gooden this year and acquiring Maggette, they're nuts. It'll come down to how LRMAM sees himself (or how his agent sees him) and what others teams are offering him. Good chance he walks for nothing after this season, but probably little chance he gets traded for nothing this season too.

Well, i think he's restricted, so the 'walk for nothing' idea is not that likely -- though who knows what will happen with the CBA.

I don't view Erden and Bradley to be nothing for a team that's defense oriented and could use depth at the 1 and the 5. Considering Ainge likely sees Erden as a safety net for Perk's departure, it may actually be giving up too much.

There's also Delfino and CDR -- both would be upgrades as bench 3s (Delfino is obviously preferable). Just don't know why MIL keeps all of them.

Just playing around on trade checker now, not that this is likely, but how about:

Celtics receive:
LR. Mbah a Moute
C. Douglas-Roberts
K. Dooling
Trade Exception

Bucks receive:
Avery Bradley
Nate Robinson
1st round pick

Gives us some serious depth at the 2/3 and then Dooling who can play a little bit of both.  I doubt we're giving up enough to get that much, but the 1st round pick could interest them enough.
do it

Nice idea, but not sure how realistic it is, nor that we / they need to trade for two guys who play the same position, both of who are restricted FAs this summer.

Dooling would be valuable Delonte insurance. But Scott Skiles is not going to want Nate, I wouldn't think.

I love Luke Richard but I dont think the Bucks would let him go.

He's destined to be just another Shane Battier.

A wonderful championship caliber defender. PERFECT role player who could swing a series with his defense.

Wasting away on a mediocre team.

TP to the OP though for sharing my love of Mbaha Moute

Thanks. I agree about his fit and think it would be worth over paying a bit to get him and keep him. He'd certainly improve offensively playing with Rondo, as well.
