I guess we'll get a glimpse of Bradley for extended minutes which I am kind of excited about. You know the kind of excitement I am talking about if you were a fan of this team in 06-07. This is not a good kind of excitement.

It's like, well, were screwed but lets see what this young athletic kid has to offer.

I wouldn't count on it. I didn't see much of him last night.

After Nate got hurt he played. It wasnt for big minutes but someone has to take Nate's minutes these next two games before Delonte comes back. Rondo cant play 48 minutes and he is the only other pg healthy right now.

That was kind of my point. After Nate got hurt he played all of 1:17 and no minutes in the second half.

Actually, the minutes played were in the second half.  But the point remains, Doc was not comfortable having him out there (and I don't blame him).

He wasnt confortable because it wasnt in the game plan. It is kind of like throwing the kid in the fire of a nat. televised Lakers Celtics game. Im guessing Doc will talk to him and try to prep him. I expect to see him play 5-10 minutes Sunday. There just arent enough bodies.

I guess Doc can play Rondo 44 minutes and Wafer 20 minutes in these next two contests but that is far from ideal considering rondo is playing in the AS game and he has been banged up.

Besides, Doc is getting Delonte back in two games. What would it hurt to see Bradley for 2 games?

Maybe it was the second half. What do I remember, but i still think Rondo needed a break, and Doc didn't feel comfortable enough to play Bradley, so I wouldn't expect to see him playing on Sunday.

Well, Doc wasn't comfortable with him out there because he was playing the two guard.  The Lakers have a pretty good two guard, you'll recall.

I wouldn't expect him to get much time against Miami either, but he may get some burn against bad teams.

Yeah, well I think Doc would feel more comfortable putting him out there as a SG, since his biggest issue has been handling the ball...but yes, playing the Lakers did not make it easier.

The thing about Bradley is that he has looked like a deer in headlights when he has stepped on the floor this season.  He just got back from a stint in the D-league, which hopefully built up his confidence a bit, but I am sure Doc does not want to ruin any progress they made by throwing him out there much against teams like the Lakers and Heat, where he really has very little chance to succeed.

I think Doc will do everything he can to not have him play more than a minute or two around the quarters against the Heat, and then, if West is still not out, he will give him some run against the Nets, which will be a lot less pressure-filled, and would hopefully allow him to at least have a chance at success where he can build some more confidence.

Bradley will probably have to play Sunday, but he is not ready for the NBA. Harangody will probably have to play Sunday, and he is not ready for the NBA. Seven NBA players available for the Celtics Sunday. Who would have believed this would be the case when we looked at this roster at the beginning of the year.

Didn't you make this " Rather play with four players than have Nate on the court" thread the other day ?

http://forums.celticsblog.com/index.php?topic=44326.0

Well you just about got your wish, lets see how productive the bench is without him. I agree he hasn't been playing good lately, but a lot of that has to do with not having a backup PG so Nate can play off the ball where he is much more effective.

Hope it is nothing serious because this would really hurt the bench's scoring ability.

Yes, I did, which is why I noted in this post that I am not a fan of Nate, but he is a body to give you 10-20 minutes to spell someone else. Bottom line is, almost every time he is on the court, he is bad, but it does give someone else a rest. That is the point I am trying to make here. Without Nate, as bad as he has played, this team is now down to 7 serviceable players, one of whom should be an 11th or 12th man.

As far as hurting the bench's scoring ability, Nate has not scored all year, so I just don't see that an issue. It really is only an issue of losing another body.

So you'd rather play with four players on the court rather than play Nate... But... You, also think he is a good body that can give you 10-20 minutes per game and are upset hes not going to be playing.....

I Confuse...

I know exactly what you mean. Unfortunately, I have seen enough of the rook to think he is the second coming of JR Giddens: great athlete, but below average BB IQ.

He's played a grand total of 67 minutes this year, mostly 4 minute spurts in garbage time, clearly enough to evaluate him with accuracy  ::)

I don't think he'll be spectacular, but i don't think it will be the apocalypse now situation some people are pushing.

Were screwed vs. the heat though.

Yeah, I am not ready to write him off as someone who will always be lost like that, but I have seen more than enough to know that is what he is right now.

From what I have seen from him in the NBA (and the horrendous turnover numbers in the NBDL tell me it was similar down there), he is either a terrible offensive basketball player, or he is nowhere near ready to play in the NBA.  Either way, I do not think much good can come from him playing for this team right now.

He needs to be in the NBDL, learning how to take care of the ball and play professional basketball.  It really is a shame that they are forced to have him up here.

My preferred second unit was:
Delonte, Wafer, Marquis, BBD and Shaq/JO
not Nate, Delonte, Marquis, JO, SO

So we have Wafer and BBD. Bradley and Luke make for a very small second unit.

Nine player rotation:
Rondo, RA (SG/SF), PP (SF/PF), KG (PF/C), Perk
AB (PG w/ RA@SG), Wafer (SG/SF) BBD (PF or C w/ KG@PF) Luke(PF w/Perk or KG@C)

w/ Delonte is a lot easier:
Rondo, RA (SG/SF), PP (SF/PF), KG (PF/C), Perk
Delonte (PG/SG), Wafer (SG/SF), BBD (PF/C), Luke (PF w/Perk or KG @ C)

Blakely  says no MRI for Nate and Nate says he will play Sunday. It will be good to have the extra body to give rondo 8 or so minutes of rest.
