I've read online recently that Knicks owner James Nolan is still very friendly with Thomas and indicates a desire to re-hire Thomas over extending the contract of current GM Donnie Walsh.
http://www.hoopsworld.com/Story.asp?story_id=18675Marc Berman of the New York Post is reporting that not only is Donnie Walsh in the dark about his future with the Knicks, but that Dolan is still speaking regularly with Thomas, who is the head coach of Florida International and that Dolan continues to indicate a desire to re-hire Thomas to run the Knicks.

Thomas is known to have been the reason why the Knicks plummeted after Ewing retired and made some very horrible moves with contracts. However he IS known for drafting David Lee, Trevor Ariza (but traded him... oops) Nate Robinson and Wilson Chandler just to name a few. However Donnie has really pointed the Knicks in the right direction and made some key moves this off-season that could make them a contender again so to back track would be a mistake.
Personally? I think the NBA should put Isiah, David Kahn (TWolves) and former GM of the Detroit Lions Matt Millen in one house and make a nice little comedy show out of it. 3 of them must run a team... LET THE CRAZY HI-JINKS BEGIN!! Best comedy on TV I think.
