Ray had a couple of seasons where he averaged over 8 3 point shots per game, and plenty of years where it was 6-7.  A good 3 point shooter would need to land in a system that would give him that much flexibility.  But you know what Ray and Reggie have in common other than being great shooters is they were in great shape throughout their careers.  That alone is going to eliminate 80%+ of players.

Remember the C's wanted Reggie to join them in 2007.  That's how much respect and well known it is that Reggie kept himself in phenominal condition; same as Ray.

Did you guys hear Miller last night, pleading with J-Rich to actually defend Ray... it's actually really cool getting to hear him comment our games because of this record.

Brooks is 26 already. He'd be a stretch. The other two probably depend on staying in their current offensive systems but they're both good possibilities.
I really liked his cranky old man rant about how nobody wants to put the time in to become a great shooter anymore.  He went as far as to say that no one alive will break Ray's record.

I don't know about anyone alive, but I can't see anyone currently in the league doing it.  That record might stand for quite a while.

  Durant is a possibility.
I'd go with someone like Curry, Gallinari, or Brooks over him.

Didn't think Brooks was that old, forgot he played 4 years of college.
Philly:

Anderson Varejao    Tiago Splitter    Matt Bonner
David West    Kenyon Martin    Brad Miller
Andre Iguodala    Josh Childress    Marquis Daniels
Dwyane Wade    Leandro Barbosa
Kirk Hinrich    Toney Douglas   + the legendary Kevin McHale

The contrast between Ray pre-trade deadline last year and this season has been amazing. I'm glad we are seeing a lot of threads praising Ray in place of the "trade Ray!!" from last year.

With that said it's alway been a pleasure watching Ray shoot but this season is definitely different, the guy almost can't miss! He stated this week that he was looking for his first 40, 50 and 90 season, and he is on track to do it so let's hope he keeps it up.

I wonder if Shaq's presence could explain that Ray gets that much more open looks than in the past.

Oddly enough, it seems like the only part of that mix he may have trouble with is his FT's. If he shoots as many FT's in the second half of the year as he has so far (111) then he only has to miss 12 of them to be under 0.900.

I think, now this is only a theory, that Ray needs to get more shots than Davis.
I like our offense better when rondo is finding ray & paul 1st and 2nd (any order).  Both guys are letting the offense come to them through the flow of game and its a beautiful thing to watch.  The outside game they have opens up their driving, lanes for rondo and spacing for bigs.

Pretty ironic that with his two misses tonight, he is now shooting the worst from the FT line since his rookie season, especially considering he is putting up far and away his best %'s from the field.

with that last RA shot, i just knew it was going in. and the fact that he was 1-7 in the game didn't matter one bit. hahaha, ray allen rocks. someone should keep track of his percentage in "clutch buckets".

Ever heard of 82games.com ? See the link for 10-11 "clutch" stats. Ray is about 20th down the list with points of 32.7

I hate to think this is true.  Ray has been a tear the likes of which I've never seen by anyone.  Knowing that shooters are streaky, and having the sky is falling Boston sports fans' mentality, I have to think he's gonna go into a slump at some point (maybe after he breaks the record?)

Having said that, it is utter joy to watch, and I can only hope that if he does slump he gets that out of his system and gets another hot streak going for the playoffs.  Imagine if he is hitting shots in the playoffs like he is now, particularly at the end of games?  No team stands a chance...

Well considering that Pierce is right behind him I don't think his 20th point total per 48 is surprising, the C's share the ball and play at a slow pace.

Look at his three point percentage in the clutch: 54.5% compared to his overall percentage 41%. I guess Ray just needs to take harder shots lol.

I love how Kobe has the most per48 points in Clutch.  And by far has the worse +/- at -9.  Ray's is +27
