For Christmas, my wonderful wife got me two tickets to the Utah game on the 21st. When she got them, she was thinking that she might go to the game with me or that I could take my 4 year old son. My wife is 9 months pregnant though and if she were to go with me, she would have needed to have the baby already (she was due last week so if she had already had the baby she may have had enough time to recover well enough to go). So, this leaves me with taking my son.

I'm a little concerned about taking my son though. The seats are in section 305 which is way up there. The last time I went to a game with seats that high up, I remember feeling a little uncomfortable with how steep it was...and it was my wife and I that time. I can only imagine how much more uncomfortable I would feel with a 4 year old. That being said, do you guys think bringing a 4 year old to the cheap seats would be okay? Has anyone brought a 4 year old to a game?

Thoughts? Thanks!

Well the balcony is definitely a little steep but theres definitely ample room to move around and get to your seats and it seems safe to me. I've seen hundreds of kids at each game I go to and I dont recall anything dangerous happening. With that said, I definitely would not have my kid sit in the first row of the balcony. Last game I went to there was a little 9 year-old who was super energetic and enjoyed dancing around in the front row. I was sitting in the seat behind him and everytime he stood up i was legitimately scared for his life.... So i guess the moral of the story is: Balcony is safe just keep your kid out of the front row.

It's like any sports venue really. Just take the same caution you would if you were anywhere. If he is gonna sit in the seat and stand in front of it, it's no problem. If he is on the energetic side and wants to run up and down the stairs and do cartwheels, then maybe it's not a good idea.

I went last year and sat in the 300's and don't remember it being outrageously steep. Either way, hold onto him and have him go up the steps first and you go down them first.

Thanks for the responses. We're in row 15 so no problem with us being too close to the front of the balcony  :)

My son is a bit energetic at home but usually rather shy around other people. My biggest concern really is probably just getting to the seat but like you said, with me below him, it shouldn't be much of an issue.

Thanks guys.

It's safe, but if you are a nervous parent like me, expect to be a little uncomfortable (but that doesn't mean its not safe).  My kids are 20 and 15 now, but I recall takign them to an event there when they were little - we were high up and in the front row of the balcony.  I didn't relax the whole time and I didn't take my eyes off my kids.

Yeah, I think I would definitely say I'm a nervous parent.

To be honest I was at the game on Friday and I was scared being up that high, but as the game went on I got a little more comfortable and had a blast... Thought I was a little scared the whole time.

My advice is to hold your kids hand throughout the game.

Row 15 is the very last row. It's kind of nice, you can stand up and lean on your seat without bothering the people behind you. I sat in row 15 on Monday. As long as you're not sitting directly above the aisle, your child can't fall very far, just to row 14 really. It's not like you'll continue falling down rows of seats and people. As we learned in LA this year though, watch your kids all the time. I'd say just as safe as anywhere else, I wouldn't worry about the balcony or the height.
