They said a strained knee on the broadcast - haven't heard anything beyond that.  Strained knee could be anything from back for Game 2 to out for a month.  But I think it's likely he'll miss some time.
This may just mean they're waiting for the MRI to determine whether there's anything torn. Billups is a likeable guy and I wouldn't want his season to end like that.

Before an injury happens, I'm not rooting for it, but when another team's player gets hurt, I'm happy with the advantage it confers the C's. The Celtics are in year 4 of this championship window, and have had significant injuries in 3 of the 4 years.

2008: healthy = title
2009: KG out, Powe out, Miki Moore and Scal playing serious big man minutes.
2010: Perk injured ACL game 7, plus various other ailments (including a limited KG)
2011: Perk out, Shaq and JO out most of the year (that's expected IMO, just not to this extent), Marquis out

I never subscribe to the "if not for injuries Cs wouldn't have one" take, mainly because my mom taught me "if wishes were horses, then beggars would ride"

Billups being out actually helps the Knicks.

I am more fearful of leaving Douglas wide open than Chauncey.

Yeah, I hope Chauncy plays.  I'd rather have a hobbled Chauncey out there than Douglas.

not something i would want for a guy his age

If Billups is able to play but is hobbled, Rondo will destroy him. You can't defend Rondo with compromised lateral movement.
As will Ray coming off of screens.

I couldn't tell from the replays if it was hurt jumping or landing.  I highly doubt he plays in game 2 though. He couldn't put any weight on it at all when he got up.  When he grabbed it, he wasn't touching his quad at all. He was grabbing the front side of his knee (ACL area).

Also, a torn ACL actually IS a "sprained knee". The only thing separating a "torn ACL", and the "knee sprain" already reported, is the grading of the sprain. Grade 1 = he could be fine relatively soon with "R.I.C.E." method. grade 3 = "Complete tear" and he'll still be recovering next season.

LOL.  That's like saying Kobe is my favorite All-star on the Lakers besides Pau and Bynum.

Just watched the replay of the game. 18 turnovers? I'll take the Dub, thank you very much.
