Magic doesn't need to relocate to Detroit to buy the Pistons.
He can be the owner, part owner, and still live in LA.

Yes, you are correct. He said he doesn't want to be the "hands on" majority owner. He has been a successful businessman for so long it just seems strange to see him divesting himself of his business holding. Maybe the economy is getting to him, too.
