if Denver trade Melo, then its likely we'll see chauncey gone too right? and soon to follow, nene and martin? Nj will be a very solid team. Still no match for beantown

The Nuggets were never really a contender.

I see no point in 'Melo moving to the team that Kenyon Martin used to play for in the Nets, especially after Kidd and Vince Carter have long since left as well. This is the same team that lost the most games in the NBA last season. Bulls, Knicks, or Warriors, imo.

But would Anthony agree to an extension with the Nets? (Edit - What Witch-King said.) In the short term he'd likely miss the playoffs and even over the next two-three years it's not clear to me that Harris/Lopez is markedly better than Billups/Nene. Could the Nets preserve enough cap space to make a run at Chris Paul next summer?

Would New Jersey offer to take Kenyon Martin back? That could be fun.

Honestly, while I'm an Anthony fan, I don't understand why Denver's front office doesn't exert more leverage - tell Melo not to report. Let him think about missing the entirety of the 2010-11 season headed into a lockout.

There is no way that K-Mart is going back to the ghost of the New Jersey Nets. Maybe once they move to Brooklyn, however there's almost no reason why he would follow Carmelo back to a team where he made it all the way to the Finals two years in a row -- it would be a horrible career move. Btw, did any of y'all catch the Red Auerbach special hosted by Chris Webber on NBA TV? Interesting stuff...

I just figured Denver must want to dump some salary in a Melo trade. He isn't going to be able to help right away.

I Should get some tommy points, cause I've been saying that Denver is a pretender (not a contender) for 2 years now! But everyone has been overrating them!

20+ points
3-4 assists
1-2 rebounds
...tons of points given up on defense.
I'd give Melo some more credit than that.  Try the Arenas thread.   :P
Philly:

Anderson Varejao    Tiago Splitter    Matt Bonner
David West    Kenyon Martin    Brad Miller
Andre Iguodala    Josh Childress    Marquis Daniels
Dwyane Wade    Leandro Barbosa
Kirk Hinrich    Toney Douglas   + the legendary Kevin McHale
