As a hoops fan, I reluctantly went with Blue Chips...
Blue Chips provided a "before it's time" look into the Calipari esque college recruitment process. Also, Nick Nolte was excellent as the coach at the end of his rope, trying to hold onto past glory and maintain a shred of integrity, while trying to keep his job.
I bet several coaches are faced with similar moral dilemma's after every sub .500 season.
Also, the scene at the end when he walks over to the playground and start teaching the kids to dribble is fantastic.
There are a lot of silly parts in Blue Chips and the big names overshadowed the story. But as a hoops fan, I loved it because it painted a pretty accurate picture of the corruptness and temptation in Big Time recruiting.
He Got Game is a social commentary more then a basketball movie. There are several underlying racial and social statements that I may not have entirely agreed with but it is definitely a more complete film.
As far as acting, Ray >>>>>> Shaq.
