Shaq's demeanor and sense of humor is probably fitted more closely to Doc's than anyone else on this team ... I think they'll get along extremely well.

I agree. In terms of humor, he's like Sheed.. Making everything a little less stressful by adding humor to it. I heard he was the comic in the locker room.. I can Shaq being that also..

Seeing that he took the vet, I doubt he would be someone to cause trouble by asking for more touches, or less PT... I really doubt it... If he did, then why would he take the vet min to be 2nd, 3rd option?

THIS POST IS NOT JUST ABOUT SHAQ.  I took the time to post about the entire team and playing time.  Guys that played regularly last years, are new to the team, or have played regularly in their career, aren't going to be playing much.  Not just about Shaq.

[Who]

The supporting cast has a lot of guys who like to have the ball in their hands offensively.

Shaq, Nate, Jermaine and Von Wafer. Each one of those players are high usage role players, more like star players in the number of shots they fire off (per minute).

Keeping everybody happy and involved (offensively) will be a challenge.

Did we have ANY ego problems last year? No.

All we added basically was Wafer and Shaq, we all saw what wafer had to say and there's no reason to ASSume that shaq is going to be a problem.

The team pulled together well at the end of last year, but there were rumblings of internal conflict for a most of last year, and it's very likely that they were due to ego problems. It was said that it was conflict between the veterans and the youth, and Tony Allen even left because as he said, he felt overshadowed by the big three.  Will Shaq help or hurt these issues? Who knows? But the original post and this whole thread is an excellent discussion.

On the positive side, Doc is a much better offensive coach than Brown was and our style of play can better incorporate Shaq than the style of play on Phx. I trust Doc to figure this out.

I will wait to see how Shaq reacts to his role on the team. I'm sure KG will be happy to relinquish the low post to Shaq on offense. Let us not forget how often we complain about KG not going to the post enough on offense. Now we have a big that can do that.

We added Wafer, Jermiane O, and Probably Shaq.  We resigned Quis and Nate and we may still add someone like Rudy Fernandez.  So yeah, I think that managing the players will be a challenge this year.

It is always a challenge winning a championship.

What would have been a real challenge would have been if he was going into the season with Semi Erden as the backup center.

I don't think things are really going to be that bad. 

There wasn't a lot about Shaq and Jermaine wanting touches last year, and to be honest, last year they would've had a case. 

If Shaq can tolerate the likes of Mo Williams, Delonte West, and Jamario Moon taking touches from him, I think he can tolerate Three Future Hall of Famers and Rondo doing it. 

Let's be real here, Shaq didn't HAVE to complain about not getting touches last year.

- He took the second most shots per 36 minutes on the team when he played.
- He had the second highest usage rate on the team when he played
- In comparison he had a usage rate 2% higher than the Celtics player with the highest usage rate and shot as many shots per 36 minutes as the Celtic player with the most shots per 36 minutes.
- When he played, Shaq was clearly the Cavaliers 2nd offensive option after the leagues MVP and best player.

What exactly was there to complain about when it came to touches or shots??
