Would he be valuable for our squad?  Is Wittman a possibility?

No to both, with a big no to Wittman. Gaffney is a nice player to root for but I just don't see him having enough skill to make our team. Wittman just looked terrible in the summer league.

The league requires the celtics have at least 12 guys, so maybe one of those guys makes the roster.

Right now it looks as if the roster will include:

Pierce
Allen
Garnett
Rondo
Perk

Oneal
Davis
Bradley
Robinson
Harangody

That is 10 players. Figure ainge will add one veteran swing player and some sort of center such as erden and you have 12 players.

So, it is possible gaffney will make the team, but sure not a lock.

Democracy begins with freedom from hunger, freedom from unemployment, freedom from fear, and freedom from hatred.

Did you see Wittman in SL?  He was out of his league.  Gaffney I expect will be at camp and probably has about a 35% chance of sticking at the end of the bench.

I don't expect Wittman to even get a camp invite. As for Gaffney his defensive ability does intrigue me and he is already under contract. Lets see how he does during training camp before deciding if he should be let go. I am not against trading him if it helps our team get better though.

Judging by summer league (always a risky proposition)and roughly in their order of likely value (IMHO):

thumbs up
Harangody--will always be short but has skills
Janning--heady, steady, ready; biggest surprise
Erden--mobile big with agility and court sense
Gaffney--spider man with excellent defensive skills

worth another look
Lafayette--fast, shoots with range, poor decision making
Parakhouski--magnet for rebounds, uses ample body well

distant possibility
Sims--may be the 5 to 3 conversion for the "big" three
