He told Yahoo! Sports that he turned down a chance to go to Boston in a sign-and-trade for a three-year, $12.5 million deal with the Bulls instead. Agent Henry Thomas wouldn’t confirm the financial details, but said Brewer would be a “tremendous fit” for Chicago

I'm guessing for sheed's contract? Atleast we know what position we're trying to fill with sheed's contract but I find this interesting because I didn't see anywhere that we were interested in him, only Josh Howard, & Rudy F.

It probably would have been a S&T using TA's contract.
Celtics fan for life.

Yeah that does make sense, since Allen did just sign there... But it would have been a sign and trade allen for a sign and trade brewer?? I didn't think that was possible

Im pretty sure that it was made clear on the front page of celtics blog one or two days that the celtics did have interest in Brewer and that Memphis and the Celts were working out a sign and trade Allen for Brewer but when Brewer grew interested in the Bulls it fell through and Allen just straight up signed there.

I don't see how that was "close" to getting Brewer. Another team had a clearly better offer on the table than the Cs did. Doesn't really seem close to me.

At least we know Danny is trying, quite honestly I was like Pierce, wondering how we didn't gain some respect from FAs to come here to fight for a ring.

I mean he turned down the chance to come here via sign and trade obviously it was some kind of principle in place.

It fell through when the Magic matched for Reddick and the Bulls moved on Brewer.  Since he wanted to start ... it made sense for him.
