  • 'Cause there ain't no fours!
Rajon Rondo (8 mill) Nate Robinson (5) Avery Bradley (1)
Ray Allen (8mill) J.J. Reddick (5) Oliver Lafayette (.75)
LeBron James (17) Mo Evans (2)…..Tony Gaffney (.75)
Kevin Garnett (16) Glen Davis (4) Luke Harangody (1)
Kendrick Perkins (5) Zaza Pachulia (4) Juwad Howard (1)

Trade Rasheeds contract and a first rounder to the hawks for zaza pachulia and mo evans.

Resign Ray- 3 year/24 mill

Sign JJ Reddick to the MLE

Pick up Juwan Howard for the vets minimum.

Re-sign Nate with the rest of the money

that team could be legendary

tad bit far fetched?..probably but just think... :o

A man can dream, right?  ;)

That's three kinds of crazy with a dose of irrational.

This is absolutely my new favorite phrase.

Aside from that, yeah...consider the source.

not probable but i could happen. I would go after LeBron if we had even a little chance of signing him. This is reall the best place to be and form a legacy. Pierce is a sad case but other players have left their team in serech of more money of stats. Emitt Smith anyone? It would hurt but Bron would make it hurt less :)Anyways who say Pierce doesn't come back and retire in a Boston uniform at the end of his great career. i would look into this.

Lebron signing is of course a possibility. An incredibly unlikely one but a possibility.

What is NOT a possibility is Lebron signing a max free agent contract in Boston, and the Celtics then spending $8 mil a year on Allen, $5 mil a year each on JJ Redick and Nate Robinson, and trading Rasheed Wallace to Atlanta for Zaza Pachulia.

1. For the Celtics to have room to sign a max free agent, they HAVE to renounce their Bird rights to all their players, including Ray Allen. So they couldn't resign him for $8 mil. Ray Allen and Nate Robinson - out of the equation.

2. For the Celtics to have room to sign a max free agent, Rasheed Wallace's contract cannot count against the books, as it does right now, in its full amount, and will continue to do for the foreseeable future unless and until he is bought out or files retirement paperwork with the league. So they couldn't sign Lebron and then have Sheed's contract to trade. Zaza Pachulia and Mo Evans - out of the equation.

3. If the Celtics sign any other team's unrestricted free agent with their cap space, they will not have a midlevel exception available for use. JJ Redick - out of the equation.

So the lineup of

Rajon Rondo (8 mill) Nate Robinson (5) Avery Bradley (1)
Ray Allen (8mill) J.J. Reddick (5) Oliver Lafayette (.75)
LeBron James (17) Mo Evans (2)…..Tony Gaffney (.75)
Kevin Garnett (16) Glen Davis (4) Luke Harangody (1)
Kendrick Perkins (5) Zaza Pachulia (4) Juwad Howard (1)

becomes

Rondo (9.1 mil)
Bradley (1.2 mil)*  Lafayette (.75 mil)**
LeBron (16.5 mil) Gaffney (.75)
KG (18.8 mil) Davis (3 mil) Harangody (0.5 mil)
Perkins (4.1 mil) Howard (1)

* - actually, technically, they'd have to renounce the rights to Avery Bradley to sign Lebron for max money but I included him anyway
** - might actually need to let Lafayette and Gaffney go too to make an extra half mil available for a max offer but again, I kept them around anyway

They'd have two roster spots left to fill, a lot of three point shooting problems, and they need a starting center while Perk recovers. Oh, and they'd only have minimum contracts available to sign those guys.

That's why this is more complicated than it seems. And also why, if by some miracle Lebron or another max free agent was to come here, it'd have to be by sign and trade.
Go Celtics.
