I love 'Sheed. A guy who, as we saw this postseason, goes out and plays. He isn't concerned in the least with having an image. The chapter on him in the FreeDarko book is excellent. Heck, he confronted Donaghy when that crooked ref was in the league. The guy cares about the game and could care less about having a media image. We need more guys like that in the league. It's about the game, not about a shoe contract.
Sheed mostly just has a problem accepting when things don't go his way.

Agree to disagree. I see 'Sheed as a different beast from most guys in the association. Yeah, the guy throws a fit but props to a guy who is about the game and isn't about the image. If you look at his whole career that is what he has always been about. The game. Not the Nike contract, not the ads, but the game on the court. His whole body of work shows that. Always loved the guy but that's just my opinion. He's never been an image guy but a guy who plays for the game, not the media glory. The league needs more of that.

I'm with you here. I think guava's oversimplifying on this one. Sheed is many things including lazy and uncontrolled, but there is a certain honesty about his outbursts and unwillingness to play the game.

I definately disagree with guava. We need more like Sheed, his authenticity, honesty and courage to stand up when everyone yells for him to sit down and shut up. The guy is pure.
And those pictures of him were so good whoever posted them. I enjoyed seeing the changes in his face through the years. He sure was a cute kid. Now I have the greatest respect for him and his character. Wish more players had the courage to stand up to the refs. Wish more regular people had the courage to stand up to the Man (as someone put it). The world might be a better place.
He has also played awesome basketball these playoffs and finals. He has been one we can feel comfortable with out there, who we know will fight for the ball, who we know will give it all he has. I hope he does not retire and that we can have him again next season.

Sheed you won't be missed if you do retire.
