When you think about it, a decisive game 7 for the title makes total sense for this team. This year has been a roller coaster year. The great start, then the injuries, then the 27-27 record, the terrible losses against poor and great teams, the lack of chemistry... and the big wins always followed by a terrible loss.
My point is, following the team this year, we all know it has the habit of playing great to lay a terrible egg in the next game (even in the playoffs, see game 6 against L.A for the most recent example), and then to rebound after the loss.
What I dislike (or maybe it's what is best about it) the most about game 7 is that we will either cheer like crazy and celebrate when it's over... or (personally, I know I will) get depressed and lament about "should have, could have" things if we lose so close to the goal. It's all or nothing tonight, like this roller coaster season.
So, that's it. Everything is on the line tonight. After this season of high and lows, this is the ultimate test. We play our best when we're underdogs. We tend to lay an egg when we get too confident or the media likes us (game 3 against Cleveland, game 4 against Orlando, game 6 against L.A). Now, we're underdogs once again. Maybe more than ever, without our starting center, in the land of the Lakers where they are very good, and against a team that has the alleged "best closer" in a do or die game 7. Something tells me we will thrive in that scenario like we've did all year as underdogs.
Here is hoping we end up on a "high note" and happy ending! GO CELTICS!!
