Absolutely...I love this team.  :D  And I think the best thing about them is the way they surprised everybody this postseason.  TP to the OP (though I don't always agree 100%... ;)) for this fabulous thread.

The Celtics that took the floor from the start of the season through Xmas, and the Celtics of this great playoff run, although they were two rather different teams, were both lovable/rootable whatever you want to call it.  Before game #6, I was ready to sign everyone from Ray to Shelden to lucrative contract extensions.   ???

The Celtics that played from Xmas through the end of the regular season, however, played a lot of bad basketball.  I know they were resting, yada yada.  But if a person wants to watch excellent basketball, that whole period was frustrating, and in a way a partial waste of time.

I will always be a Celtic fan.  This playoff run has been great.  I love this playoff team.  But 54 out of 82 regular-season games were uninspired and uninspiring.

But if the fellas bring home #18 tomorrow, I'll be back to wanting to sign everyone from Scals to the waterboy to long-term extensions!   ::)

TP for the OP.

I too was angry at them many a time, but they got to game 7 despite more obstacles than any of the other true contenders.

A win tomorrow would be even sweeter than 1969's upset, but win or lose, they have earned my respect and gratitude.

They've given us what most of us have wanted to see all our lives:  Game 7 in the Finals vs. The Lakers.  Obviously we all want a win, but if they lose we can't be disappointed.  This has been fun and for me can only be topped by 2008 (even if they win tomorrow).

I hate to say this, but it could be another 20+ years before another Celtics-Lakers Final.

Go Celtics!

Thanks for a great thread, Vinnie,

I fully expect to see our team raising that trophy in LA tomorrow night.

If they don't, however, of course, I will still love this team.  I have been a Celtics fan since the early '80s and I think I can say this has been my favorite Celtic team ever.

To me, this current group represents what basketball is all about.  The way they play solid defense, and collective team ball on the offensive end is nothing short of inspirational.

The Cleveland Cavaliers and the Los Angeles Lakers with their superstar driven agendas represent the evil forces of NBA basketball.

Good must triumph!!! Go Cs!!

I do love this team. I can't help it. Even when I get frustrated and disappointed. Watching them fight so hard to beat the odds these past 2 months has been exhilarating. I don't think I hit as many highs on the way to # 17. Looking forward to #18. Go Cs!

It has been a great run, no question. We have been playing with the house's money for quite awhile.

I just want great effort tomorrow night. If we have that, I can live with the result.

This team is the basketball equivalent of the Patriots when they won their 1st championship.  What a year.  If there is any justice in this world, Celts win tomorrow night.

Agree 100%.  It's probably hard to judge while it's still going on, but I think when I look back 20 years from now, this them will be the one I look back at as the Celtics team that's dearest to my heart, and that goes whether they win game 7 or not.  Before this the 1991 team was the one I was most emotionally invested in.  Top to bottom this team is just inspiring and has been so much fun.  This playoff run was an unexpected blessing, and it's too bad it has to end tomorrow night.

Yes this era of Celtic basketball has truly been great. This playoff run has been so exciting. Everyone has left us for dead after every series and here we are getting ready for a game 7 in the Finals. I want to thank the Celtics for another great year and I wish you all the best tomorrow. In the true spirit of competition, I hope they just give the best effort they possibly can, play their guts out, stay aggressive and then when the clock reads 00:00 they will be able to be proud win or lose.

Sports are like that, someone has to lose. But I respect this team no matter what.

Go C's!!!!!

Got to love the Heart and Determination of this bunch. Everyone from Perk to KG to Rondo, Ray and the Captain have shown what it takes to be true Champions. The bench is a bunch of knuckleheads, but hey, that just adds to the entertainment value and as much as you might question them as individuals they bring hustle and energy.
