Two things. First, I am pretty sure Thibs has accepted the job. I think they are waiting until after the finals are over to make the official announcement, so it does not overshadow the series at all (the league would be VERY annoyed), but from everything I read, it sounded like a done deal.
Second, I don't think Thibs was in line for the C's job. I don't think they look at him as anymore than a "coordinator", and I also think C's current management favor big names, and would prefer a more proven coach, who is also better with the media.
