Listening to Mike and Mike on the way to work this morning - Dickie V besides urging Tom Izzo to stay at Michigan ST. - says the Lakers will win 2 straight Bahby. I guess Dickie should stick follow his own advice and stay in school Bahby.

Next on Mike and Mike, Dear old Rick Pitino still believed that college coaches could be successful in the NBA only if they had talented players. His situation back in 1997 was that he thought he would be coaching Tim Duncan and Kieth Van Horn - Instead he got Chauncey Billups (traded for Kenny Anderson) and Ron Mercer. He seemed to be supporting the Celtics still probably because of Paul Pierce. Celtics winning tonight would help me forgive Pitino, just a little. He did have the good sense to draft Pierce.

Golic seems to be leaning toward Boston while Greenie is sticking with Fakers in 7. But Greenie seems to be struggling defending his pick.

We are we thought we would be at the beginning of the season. The regular season was thoroughly forgettable and most of the national media wrote us off expecting to lose to Miami. But that seemed like years ago in these never ending playoffs.

I have decided that Doc Rivers is a better coach than Phil Jackson and hope he stays coaching the Celtics. If he wants to take a sabbatical after winning his 2nd championship, that is fine, but I want him back in the future.

This is Glory's Last Shot for the Celtics. I have my doubts as to whether we can get back to the Finals in the future because the NBA landscape will change this summer. We need to make the most of this opportunity and get that 18th Championship.
The beatings will continue until morale improves

I don't think Pitino drafted Pierce.

I may be wrong, can someone help.

Pitino was with the Celtics from 1997 to 2001.  Pierce was drafted in 1998, so yes, Pitino drafted Pierce.  Who wouldn't have though?

If Dirk had been available at 10 and Rick had to choose between Paul and Dirk, I think he would have went with Dirk. I am happy the way it turned out. Paul Pierce is one of the most loyal Boston athletes of all time and may be a 2 time champion in short order.

I might give one or two of those GMs a pass, but Paul was CLEARLY a top 3 talent that year.  A blue chip talent from a blue chip program.  I was thinking we might have an outside shot at Nowitzski but I was in shock that Pierce slipped to the C's.  It would have been a tough choice if both were available, but Paul was much more of a sure thing.  Regardless, I am happy with the way things turned out.

Dick Vitale is pretty much their go-to basketball guy, even though he is a complete idiot when it comes to NBA matters.  At least in college he might have some sort of a clue.

Pitino also admitted that he was highly enticed by the additional money.  For some reason I still think that Pitino was not the one who decided to draft Pierce.  I do recall him angling for Ron Mercer & Antoine though.

I still remember the Napoleon coming out of the visitors tunnel and walking all the across the court minutes before every game would start. He was sooo full of himself.

I believe Vitale said Rondo was a terrible pick and he wasn't going to be any good in the NBA.

  • You know my methods, Watson.
I can't believe Duke Vitale didn't pick us since we've got Shelden on our team...
