First time in Boston......Please help

I don't want to jinx anything, but it is only practical that I start planning for the parade since I missed out on 2008.

I'm supposed to arrive in South Station.

Question is, do the duck boats go through their full route for parades?

What would be the closest spot from south station to catch a glimpse?

I don't want to answer your question for fear of the karmic consequences, but just as a reference here's the route they took when they won in 2008.  IF they win, it will probably be very similar.
