Doc should discuss his Coaching future after the Series is over. This has been an on going soap opera. Is he looking for more $$ or is he sincere about watching his kids play whatever. I assume he means watch them grow up. He's certainly not irreplaceable. He was handed a golden chance by Ainge to Coach a Super team. Others would have done better.

Maybe I'm missing something but Doc's been good about putting that speculation off till the season is over as far as I've heard, and he's done a fantastic job handling the enormous egos on this team.  I struggle to think of any coach who could take his place.

Stay or leave, Doc's earned my respect.  Not sure what got you started on this in the first place

There is so much we don't know about the dynamics of this team. 

If Doc would like to stay, I would be happy to have him.  He's been a trooper for the Celtics and has obviously made his mark.  Even if he wasn't a great coach when he came to the C's, he has grown to become a great coach. 

What little we do know includes:

1. The Celtics have won a championship with Doc;
2. Doc suffered through some rough seasons with pretty thin talent and he took some heat for those rough seasons;
3. In 2008 along comes Ray, KG, Eddie and Posey and the C's integrate quickly to go on a thunderous tear through the NBA straight to the championship;
4. The 2009 C's without Garnett or Powe almost made it back to the championship.
5. In 2010 Doc's plugged in Nate Richardson late in the season, switched the offense, compensated for KG's injury and brought us to 2-2 in the championship series.

I'll take it.

It's pretty hard to say "Slapping together a team of 3 superstars used to being the #1 guy with a couple of untested young guys and a few bench veterans and then leading that team to a title in 1 season?  Easy!  Dozens of coaches could've done that!  Then taking that team, completely changing the bench, giving much more of a role to the youngest starter, and rebounding from a crappy regular season to beat the two conference favorites and possibly the defending champs, without home court in any series?  Child's play!"  Or rather, it's very easy to say but [dang] near impossible to do.  Doc's done a great job with this team and earned the respect he's gotten.

And I'm not sure what the "whining" is in the OP, I haven't seen anything vaguely resembling whining from Doc except for maybe occasional ref complaints.

Doc isnt whining about nothing,he just doesnt get to see his kids growing up.He is the perfect motivator and I would hate to see him leave.I remember when he first started coaching the C's he and Pierce didnt get along,now the players all respect him and yes he has been given some great players, but I wouldnt say that someone else could do better.Keep up the good work Doc your awesome!!!!

They keep asking him, he gives the same answer basically "After the finals are over..."

I respect what he's done for this team, I think a lot of the time fans take him for granted. I respect that he's a family man and misses his family, yet manages to stay focused. Whatever he decides to do, I'll respect.

I think he did and is doing a superb job, I didn't like some decisions he made regarding managing minutes diring the regular season, but in every playoff series so far, he has been right on the mark.
If he leaves next season, it might be a good thing to get a coach that has a high level of motivation for winning a championship cause Doc won't have a high level after winning 2 in 3 years

I need to change this to a more relevant subject with the same name.

Doc whines at the officials partly because he knows it's one way to get a break on calls later in the game.  Yes, he also does it because he's mad at them, but I'm quite sure he wouldn't do it if it would not produce something useful.  You often see him telling his players to basically "shut up and play and let me yell at the officials".  Such is the way in the NBA today.
