Gasol's free throws are why he's the MVP of the series so far.

He has a huge impact on the game merely by drawing tons of fouls inside and taking a ton of free throws.  Add to that his rebounding and blocking, and the fact that the Celtics can't seem to stop him from nailing mid range jump shots, and he's been more efficient than Kobe (though, as always, less impressive).
Never forget the Champs of '08, or the gutsy warriors of '10.

Now I know it's not all in my mind that the Lakers have gotten preferential treatment from the Refs.  My mother in law was just here and said she has been watching the games but doesn't really know anything about basketball.  But she asked me why the Lakers can do things that the Celtics get called for fouls for doing.  If a casual observer of basketball can see it, one that doesn't have any bias one way or the other,  that just seals it. She mentioned the big shaggy white guy who was able to to do things that no one else could without getting stopped by the refs.

G4 ref highlights

stern should see this, this is disgusting and ridiculous...refs are definitely helping the Lakers
Disgusting is correct.

On that first play, not only did Rasheed not foul Gasol, he actually purposely pulled away from him to avoid contact.  Gasol lost his footing and the refs fell for it.

On the charge called against Pierce, there is no way, NO WAY, ABSOLUTELY NO WAY that Kobe had his feet set.

And the moaning by Fisher that he got hit by Rondo simply makes me sick.  I hope his little girl recovers from her illness, but clearly he's learning all the dirty tricks from his teammates.

Just a side note - do yo have to have your feet set to get a charge call? My understanding of the rules is that you don't unless you are talking about getting your feet outside the circle. You can get a charge call standing on one foot, so long as you get to the spot in time.

On the Pierce play, he basically lowered his shoulder and plowed into Kobe. Hard to complain about that one.

I can't help but wonder where they thought the foul was on Sheed on that first one, considering the gap between Gasol and Sheed when Gasol fell.

You know, watching those clips kinda adds to my sense that Gasol is getting the "star treatment" now.

Even if he isn't, I do think that the refs ought to be studying these replays to understand how they are "seeing" phantom fouls--so they can stop seeing them.
