I'm wracking my brain over here trying to come up with a way to neutralize or at least even-up the matchup advantage of Pau Gasol.  I can't come up with a way.

Do we we send Rondo to blitz off of Fisher?  What about PP off of Artest?  Neither of those options sounds great, but I think they are our best bets.

Going into this series I knew Pau would be a pain in the tookus.  But tonight was much more than that.  He literally played a near perfect game with his cleaning up the O boards, and helping on D.  PG was unbelievable in this game.  Garnett was pretty close to vomit.

Did you guys think this would be such a lopsided matchup?  Will it continue, or will KG bring it back down to Earth and make it closer?

  • Rondo = Good
In the universe where KG plays like even 75% the player he was two years ago.

But yeah, so far Pau Gasol is the Finals MVP in my mind and I expect that to be the case if the Lakers win this series.

7 offensive rebounds for Pau, all leading to points.  That's more than twice as many boards as KG had TOTAL!!!!

THE CELTICS ARE TOAST IF PAU PRODUCES EVEN HALF THESE NUMBERS FROM HERE ON OUT.

I think we have to either double Gasol or live with KG on Bynum.

He isn't beating KG one on one. He is moving and getting to the rim for the most part.

And therein lies the answer to yours and all of our questions - At the end of your 3rd statement: KG looked like vomit.

I love KG to no end - but he won't play like that, again. He'll play better, as well as Perk.

LA Fans: Gasol is Solid, but he is no unstoppable. He played a perfect game (which won't happen again), and KG didn't play well at all tonight.

In the Infamous Words of The Terminator, I imagine KG saying:

"I'll Be Back."

KG needs to step up and grow a pair. Be tough, be aggressive, be smart... act like Kevin Garnett, as apposed to Kevin Gar-not

KG didnt defend Pau two years ago. It was perk that out physical-ed him not KG, infact in game 5 2008 when Perk was out of game KG got crushed by Pau also.

for all of KGs positives and their are many KG can't defend the post 1v1 and for some reason has never learned to box out.

We obviously need better from him to win but tonight was not some abberition Pau is a nightmare matchup for KG

I thought Sheed did a pretty good job on him for stretches tonight. Once the game got out of hand Sheed just kinda started shoving people around, but tonight made me feel really good about Sheed's future contributions to the series.

If tonight's KG is the KG we get all series, stopping Pau becomes that much harder. Hopefully KG can overcome whatever injury he's dealing with. Someone just needs to get in KGs face and show him tapes of Pau abusing him and tell him to man-up. If KG can't get it right, I think our best bet is to put Sheed on him and don't double.

In the universe where our guys remember how to box the frack out and fight for defensive rebounds! The Lakers had 12 offensive boards total. 8 of those were Gasol!

#1 this is on KG, who must play better, but it also comes down to our collective team rebounding too. We need to rebound like we did in the first two series of the playoffs, where three Celtics were instantly on every loose ball.

They need to start the game with Perk on Gasol.

Push him away from the basket.  Keep a body on him on every shot.

Put KG on Bynum.  Let see if some vet know how on defense will effect the hurt big man.

But, Perk on Gasol.  I couldn't believe when I didn't see that.  Punish him early.  Don't let him get off early and easily.  If he doesn't, he usually fades away.
