  • You ain't the boss of the freakin' bedclothes.
So I just got called out on the FP for flaunting the 17 titles. LA fans say they don't matter. I hate that argument.

My response:

I hate when Lakers fans talk like this. It is just silly.
Point 1:
So the Lakers won ‘16’ Championships. I mean, i say the LA Lakers won 11, but whatever.

So of those 16 championships, 7 were before 1980. Do you say “We have 9 Championships”? Do you say “Lets bring home banner #10!”?

No, you don’t.

Point 2:
When the Celtics won their first title in 1957, and titles in 58-61 there were 8 teams. (4)
When the Celtics won their titles in 62-66 there were 9 teams. (8)
When the Celtics won in 67 there were 10 (9)
In 68 there were 12 (10)
in 69 there were 14 (11)

You know what all those years also have in common? One of those 8, or 9 or 10, or 12 or 14 teams was ALWAYS the Lakers. I mean sure they moved to a new city without any natural lakes and their entire history was usurped and claimed and moved, which makes them no better than Clay Bennet and his power grab in Seattle, but they were there. They were a part of that league. Lakers fans want to pretend it didn’t happen, like it doesn’t matter, but i wasn’t alive in 1981, so maybe the Lakers title that year doesn’t matter. I wasn’t paying attention in 2001, so that year shouldn’t matter either.

I could get it if maybe the Memphis Grizzlies want to crap all over the Celtics history like its old news. Their franchise didn’t even exist then. But nobody takes them seriously, because their franchise didn’t exist then. Those whole “Your titles don’t matter because they happened a lot time ago” is not only a short sighted arguement, it is also hypocritical coming from LA fans.

And also your city sucks, your fans in your arena (the ones people can see, who can actually afford tickets) are cosmetic and someday the ocean will swallow your city like a pink’s chili cheese dog.

haha. They deserve it. Well not their city being swallowed by the sea like some kind of righteous judgement not against their sin but as a judgement against the garbage that is Lakers Basketball. They do not deserve that.

But they do deserve to be teased about it.

TP for showing restraint.

What else are they going to hang their hat on, right?  After being beat down 9-2 in head-to-head matchups, they have to fall back on lame arguments discrediting Bill Russell's teams.

(Sadly, it's not too much different than Red Sox fans who tell Yankees fans that we're ahead 2-1 this century, as if the other 26 championships don't matter.)
