What's the most the Cavs can offer Lebron per year? For instance, can they give him $30 million per for two seasons? Link please.

I've read that overall the Cavs can offer him $20 million more in total salary than any other team.  I know that doesn't answer your question.

I know the CBA caps out max pay per year. I just need a link and I'm curious what the exact number is?

Based on a projected $64 million salary cap, James could sign with the Cavs for about $133 million in 2010. Other teams could sign him for roughly $102 million.

  • Doc could learn a thing or two from Norman Dale
The max Lebron can earn is approximately $17 million in the first year of the deal, with raises of approximately $1.8 million per year after that (10.5% of the first year value of the deal), up to a total of six years (assuming that he resigns with the Cavs, or is signed-and-traded.)

If he signs with another team, he can still earn the same $17 million in the first year, with raises of approximately $1.4 million each year (8% of the first year value of the contract), up to a max of five years.

That $64 million salary cap has been blown out of the water; I think the most recent projection is $56 million.

Yeah, the article I quoted from is from 2008...I knew $64 million sounded way too high.

I knew you would come along and provide some direction to this rudderless ship Hobbs!

Thanks Roy, I was on my phone at the time and didn't have a great ability to look it up.

My friend was trying to tell me that the Cavs will sign Bron for $30 million a year for 2 years so he can give them another chance without a long commitment. I was trying to explain why this couldn't happen with the exact CBA rule.
