Just wondering what everyone thinks,  all biased aside   who had the more amazing performance on Mothers Day yesterday...

Rajon Rondo  with 29-18-13
or
Dallas Braeden throwing a perfect game for the Oakland A's

Rondo does what only two others have done in the game before him, named Chamberlain and Robertson

and Dallas completes what is thought to be the hardest thing to achieve in the game of Baseball against one of the best teams in the league right now.   Speak on it

As sick as a triple double is, I have to hand it to Braden for that perfect game. It's only been done 19 times.

By the same token, only 3 players in NBA history have a line similar to that of Rondo.

But also, MLB have more games per season and is an older sport...

Personally I think Rajon's is better.

This was a playoff game. Not the beginning of a regular season.

This was a must win game, far more was at stake.

  • Rondo = Good
Baseball doesn't particularly interest me, so I'm definitely gonna go with Rajon.

Pitching is great and all, but Dallas Braden isn't even 1/10th the athlete that Rajon is.

There are a lot of different ways to slice this but since I got home after taking my mother to "The Branson Belle" for a showcruise and was hyped to see Rondo highlights and had to first sit through another darn baseball record then I say Rondo's game. Wow, was that all just one sentence?

Seriously though, we keep discounting things Rondo does and it's time to start realizing how good this guy really is. I know I have certainly not seen a pg of Rondo's caliber in a C's uniform, ever.

Rondo.

I have seen perfect games and no-hitters. There is always a measure of luck involved in a perfect game.  Don't misread -- it is a unique and amazing feat -- but how different really is it than a 1-hitter (which we wouldn't even be talking about today)? That's right, one hit. One better placed ball off the bat.

Rondo's feat is astounding.  Take 10 points, 8 rebounds and 3 assists away and we are still talking about an unbelievable game.  And pure skill -- very little luck involved.

18 rebounds??? 6'1" ?  Unreal.

I've seen amazing performances (Bird v. Dominique comes to mind), but what is extraordinary is that this was not only an all-around individual performance, but this was not a 'give it to  Bird; give it to Lebron; give it to Dominique' performance. This was Rondo working within the team concept, sharing the ball, involving his teammates and dominating with the ball and on the boards.

It WAS a perfect game.

I agree on both sides of the story...I play baseball myself and can really appreciate how lucky you have to be to even come close to a perfect game even at my level, nevermind the pros.  Bear in mind Dallas'  story about his mother dying from Skin Cancer and his performance occurred on Mothers Day

And the fact that Rondo is in short company with what he did....  I think its safe to say  two amazing performances

What really irked me is the coverage of Rondos game on Sportscenter this morning   the lineup went in this order

Perfect game
Tiger Woods
Suns
Cetics  with a blurb about Rondos stats...made a bigger deal about the elbow being looked at and all of Queens blocks...what a joke.  The Suns and Tiger didnt deserve to be above that Celts game.   And then on the top 10 plays, rondos was fourth behind a soccer clip and a lame 2nd clip.  They of course put the perfect game 1st. But that pass that rondo burned Queen in midair  was the best play of the week, how it finished fourth on the DAY is a joke, ESPN is a joke

They were (shockingly) talking about Rondo's game during the CSN pregame show tonight. Rondo led the team in scoring (by 11 points), rebounds (by 12) and assists (by 11). They said it was the first time in any game in NBA history that a player led his team in all three categories by double digits. Doing that in a close playoff game against the team with the best record in the league, my vote goes to Rondo over something as mundane as a perfect game.
