I have a theory that some of the strong personalities on the team are so much into an us against the world type mentality that they are flat more intense for a road game and it makes up for being on the road. Its almost as if having people cheer for them just annoys them. Cowens used to be like this. and God forbid I bring this us, you old guys KNOW how much Russ had disdain for the home crowd. Im talking KG, Rondo and Sheed. Ray and Paul and are not buying this but imho this is KG and Rajons team. So I don't think there is an edge at home or much of one except for the refs. They can do this in game 7 if they have to. One game at a time.

:D

Were seeing it now. Pierce has not been himself. HE looks lost out on the court. HE seems like he doesnt even belong. This is not a bash thread. This is actually a give him a break thread.

Remember 2 years ago...

When Ray Allen had a horrid series vs the Cavs? We all remember it. Even if Wally Sczerbiak was guarding Allen, he still couldnt do anything. Why?

Well your seeing it from Pierce in this series. Its funny that the same person (TONY ALLEN) is the one in the game to back them up.

Just like Ray Allen in 08, Pierce is feeling the same, out of place, not an option, like if he misses the next shot he takes that everyone will be thinking, what the hell pierce! On the other hand Ray Allen (despite even 8-21 shooting) is feeling the oppossite. Confident, hes opening his mouth, hes taking way more shots and he feels like everyone is behind him.

Sometimes this happens as you saw in 08' with Allen. When you have 4 superstar type players on the team, its almost natural that one may have one of those series where they feel either left out, or the weight of the world is watching them, that every shot is the biggest shot of the game, and that if they miss it, everyone will be wondering what the heck is going on.

But I hope everyone can understand now, what Ray went through, and what the captain is going through now. His body and wear and tear definently play a part, but if we make it through this series, im confident Pierce will bounce back.

Hopefully he can break out in the remaining three games, but just like Pierce and Tony Allen stepped up in 08', we have the other Allen and Tony Allen to pick up the slack.

This is a team game and when one of your teammates is down, you dont point the finger or blame him, your help him out and pick up the slack.

Thats what im loving most about this team. NO CARMELO ANTHONY "i need help" no Joe Johnson " i dont care " , none of that. This team holds together and while i may not translate into a win, you can see that their playing for eachother and not for themselves.

I was wondering when you were going to come out of the woodwork my friend.

Your comments used to get me angry because your bias is rediculous but now I just laugh.

But Ill just say the same thing I say to all of your posts.

We get it. You love Ray Allen and hate Paul Pierce. You are not a Celtics fan and you will not convince the majority of people here that Paul Pierce sucks.

You dont have to prove Ray Allen is great by saying Pierce sucks, because he doesnt, they are both great.

Edit: After reading your post you really didnt give Pierce that hard of a time, although I know you wanted too!

Still though, you dont need to compare the two all the time. It gets really tiresome.

Thats false. Yes I am a big fan of Ray Allen. Can you blame me. He was my favorite player since his first year at college. This doesnt mean anything. I have a bias towards Ray but that should be understood. I try to sound as critical and praiseworthy based on the facts and gameplay.

IF i do sound like im bashing Paul. I am really not. Most of the time the reason I point out Pierce's flaws or mishaps in a game or two is because im just backing up Ray when people really get down on him or in many cases wanted him traded.

Im not going to blatantly hate on a player just because I have a huge Bias towards him.

Pierce is not quite as good as he was two seasons ago.

Lebron is better then he was two seasons ago.

The difference between them has widen.

But I expect we will see big game Pierce again before these playoffs end.

Yes, yes and more yes.

Pierce is still a top 5 SF in the NBA. Lebron is just that good on defense.

  • You say when......
What you are seeing is a fact of life and a fact of an NBA star getting older, and not adjusting well to it. It takes a while for some. Alllen Iverson couldn't do it AT ALL...PP cannot guard LBJ AND be the scorer he usually is or was this year, when he was healthy, Ray Allen cannot guard LBJ and be the scorer he has been all year....it takes too much to cover LBJ, and you have to deny him the ball, deny him lanes, alley oops, open jumpers...the only ones that can do it are TA and maybe MD...and that is what doc should be doing, more TA on LBJ and subbing in MD on him, TA and rondo are a running, slashing team, that they cannot stop, doc is catering to ego's here, instead of what works. PP and Ray shouldn't be on the floor at the same time much anymore, they have become sort of the same type, yes, big shots, and good game, but not enough difference anymore. It is better to rotate them in anyway, keep them fresh. PP has many good years left in him, just not the same type of game, less ISO's, more in out passing, while he moves to better spots, some threes, some jumpers, if you watch, that is what ray does, some layups, some dunks, more good position jumpers, conseve and be tactical.......there will be other matchups where it might change, but this is the way to undo the Cavs...let LBJ cover rondo, we'll get him in foul trouble, more room for TA to slash, more good pics on LBJ..that is just my 2 cents..!

Lebron is the best player in the world. Of course Pierce is struggling. Doc needs to take Pierce off Lebron and let Ray and Tony defend Lebron. Csn had a segment on Pauls struggles tonight. They asked him if he was injured. He even said he is ok.

A 2010 Pierce cant stop Lebron. He is 32 and Lebron is 24 and the milage shows. I love Pierce but Doc needs to stop worrying about hurting Pauls feelings and give Ray the job. Paul is getting burnt so bad it is disrupting his confidence, which is why he is missing bunnies. Please put Pierce on Parker and run some screens for Paul on offense and he will get hot.

"more TA on LBJ" is AOK!
