I absolutely loved the Kobe run in the 3rd.  While the announcers were drooling over his play, the Celtics were expanding their lead, and the rest of the Lakers were scratching their rear ends.

The Celts handled it beautifully.

The guy hits some amazing shots, but my confidence booms when he tries to do it all by himself.
Yup

Kobe scored 19 in a row. Most teams would have panicked but not this team. C's weathered the storm perfectly. PP was HUGE.
The Immortals:

Iker Casillas, Giacinto Facchetti, Alessandro Nesta, Matthias Sammer, Javier Zanetti, Lothar Matthäus (c), Xavi, Zico, Maradona, Roberto Baggio, Ferenc Puskas, Karl Heinz Rummenigge

I absolutely agree with you and when they showed the stat that Kobe was the only one that had scored in the quarter for the Lakers it made me smile... One dimensional teams don't usually fare very well.

At the same time I think it also showed that Kobe is definitely the best player in the game right now.  I posted this in the game thread also.  I don't know if Lebron has it in him to do something like that, and the fact is that while we were playing great if Kobe isn't playing out of his mind we are blowing them out that quarter.

Then again everyone on the Lakers kind of disappeared in the 4th so maybe it wasn't all that impressive...

Yeh, the nice part of it was The Basketball Fan in me was able to enjoy a ridiculously great display of shooting and athleticism, while the Celtics Fan appreciated how the Celtics could benefit from it.

I agree. I was hoping Kobe would continue hogging the ball, and he did. He made unbelievable shots, gotta give him kudos for that, but the Lakers' D was non existent on the other end so it helped us. However we did end up the quarter very badly with 3 terrible defensive possessions in a row (a 2+1, easy FT for Odom etc), so his performance helped L.A to keep the game close.

But I certainly hope tries to play the hero once again in game 6. His teammates checked out of the game in the 3rd in my opinion.

Redz, my feelings exactly. I think it would sting me more to lose to a selfish playing Kobe Laker team but I think that's the best chance we have.

The end of the period was unfortunate, but they still added to the lead for the period.

Great stat that sums it up nicely:

From the 4:23 mark of the second quarter to 2:16 left in the third, Kobe scored 23 straight Lakers points. During that period, Boston went from 1 point ahead to 13.
