I'm not delusional, so I'm not going to pretend that this game means that the '07-08 Celtics are back.  However, I do think a classic blowout win also shows that the C's aren't completely in the grave quite yet either.  More importantly, since any change that may occur will have to wait until at least this summer, there's no point in utterly forsaking hope and entirely dwelling on the bad (as bad as it's been).  Thus, for the sake of trying to maintain any morale for this team, I came up with two reasons  to have some hope for this team (as small as it may be).

1. All Star Rondo and the Big Three have yet to blend their talents.  People forget that Rondo's coming out party was last year's playoffs, when KG was out.  Since then, with KG and PP missing time, Rondo's yet to have sustained time with the Big Three.  Consequently, we've seen spurts of the Big Three doing well, spurts of the Rondo show, and spurts of utter disarray on the offensive end.  This is something that certainly could improve over the next month.

2. KG and PP can improve, particularly PP.  While I don't ever expect to see KG what he as two years ago, I really see no reason why Pierce can't regain at the very least the form he had last year.  He's only 32 and apparently his injuries have all been minor.  As for KG, the past couple weeks have shown he's improving...hopefully that continues.

Again, I'm not trying to drink the Kool Aid.  I've been VERY disappointed with this team so far this year.  But still, I think we need something to latch some hope on.  So I suggest that if anyone has anything else to dangle some hope from, let's put it here and try to keep it realistic.

It's true that a lot of the technical elements of our game that have been nowhere to be found are in place tonight, although the defense in the third quarter was expansion-quality at best.

That's great. I need to see it night in and night out, and certainly against quality opposition - which the Pistons are not.

Give me two weeks of this caliber of basketball, and my eyebrows will be raised. We've now seen the standard from this group, which is encouraging. Time to see it again. And again.
Coined the CelticsBlog term, "Euromistake."

Nice to see these threads.

I've always hoped, just based off of the Celtics Rich History. Yes this season has been a struggle due to various reasons, but it's not too late for this bunch to put something together momentum-wise.

I'm particularly pleased that KG seems to be steadying up..not as much limping.

+1. Let's see it against quality opponents and consistently.

We'll get our chance here soon..at HOU, DAL, and UTAH..and then a home game vs DEN..

I'm seeing some improvement. We are now able to blow out average to poor teams when the effort is there. I thought this was possible for a while, but it's good to see it actually happen.

More steps need to be taken, though, and I still feel we can do it.

2/3 wins on that utah, dallas, houston road trip would be a good next step.

Seeing Pierce taking over games for stretches is what I am the most excited about.

wow we actually have a pretty tough stretch coming up in addition to that west coast swing.. *if* or more like **********if************** we can dominate this part of the schedule all of the losing over the past few months may be forgotten.  i'd especially like to get some retribution for the denver and CLE games.
