Doc has admitted lately that it might be time for some changes. This is an idea that Doc could experiment with that wouldn't blow up the team chemistry, but might be worth trying. It's more of a tweak that a huge change. No one else on the team is giving the same sort of effort that Baby is right now. Why not reward him? Put him out there for Perk on offense (Doc could try to sub offense/defense as much as possible), and that gives the Celtics five guys who can shoot, it spreads things out a bit more for everyone, would seemingly make them less predictable, and they become a much better offensive rebounding team. If Baby starts to get more minutes maybe he finds that jumper again, and that would be big if that could happen.

Glen Davis has been the second best big man on the Celtics over the past few weeks and he is the quickest center out of their big body players.

I would be interested in seeing him get some more court time alongside the rest of that starting unit instead of Perk.

I agree ... his energy and hustle have earned him some extra court time in my opinion ... and he never hesitates to give up his body for a charge call or a loose ball ... I love his effort. Perk has been luke-warm of late, at best ... it's a shame, because early in the season he looked in peak form. (TP)

I talked in my OP about subbing offense/defense with the two because it doesn't seem right to replace the "anchor of our defense" in Perkins. But I think you're right. BBD's got quick feet and is the only guy in our 10-man rotation who consistently takes charges. I'm not sure it would hurt us on defense at all if he were in there for Perk. Depending on the matchup he might be better than Perk on defense at times. I think the idea is worth a try.

If Anderson Varejao is going to play 30 minutes, roast us on the boards, and go for 17 and 10, Doc sure as hell should put Baby out there to counter Sideshow Bob every minute he's on the floor. Because it was infuriating to watch AV outwork the Cs bigs like he did today.

I am not a huge Glen Davis fan because of all the shots he gets blocked, but for the last several weeks has has been the only guy on the offensive boards, the only guy taking charges, and the only guy hustling every second he is on the court. He should be the first big off the bench until he plays himself out of that role or someone plays better and harder than he does.

Good post, Toine43.
Baby played great Fri. night. His defense was effective and intense, his screens and blocks kept opponent off the boards, not to mention the 15 points he got. His jumper still not seen much. I feel he needs to work on shooting. And maybe pump fakes. But he has helped the Celtics so much lately. And he keeps getting better as he gets more minutes.
