First. Pierce is comming off the bench and Daniels starts. While I might prefer Ray as the 6th man, he's not as good at getting his own shot and I think he gives the starting unit an outside game.
Second, not always play an entire second unit every game. Sometimes it's okay but mixing and matching might just be better.

Third and most important, I would teach them how to set a screen without moving. It happens at least twice a game if not more. Than for some reason they yell at the ref and show him how they are covering their groin as if that matters for some reason.

Perk may need to stay after class

I guess if I'm Doc I say

Hey starters. You give up on me. I give up on you. Since it's pretty clear none of you will be here next year I gotta start working with the players that will be.

Then I bench them for an entire game (and of course Sheed) in which they weren't going to give full effort anyway.

The next game I do the same thing but maybe I let Ray start. The next game maybe I let Ray and Perk start. Then Ray, Perk, and Rondo. By this time Sheed and someone else has acted like a baby allowing me to send them home and clean out their locker.

Culture of team changes. Losers go home. Celts start winning games they at least should win.

Rebuilding begins. Life goes on, but we don't have to watch this train wreck and players that don't care in quite the same way anymore.

Get my resume ready. Start talking to wife about moving to Washington DC to watch my kid at Georgetown.

I posted this elsewhere, but I really think this is the problem with the team.  Rondo spoke out in the media about someone griping in the locker room about not getting enough touches and playing for a contract.

A few games later, Perk complained in the orlando game about not getting enough touches and was benched for the rest of the game (the game was tight and we could have used him against superman) but he was being punished.  Doc made him sit in the "time out" chair.

Doc needs to find a way to assimilate Perk into this team.  There aren't that many shots for him with the first unit.  But he is a good high percentage shooter and Perk has a good point that he should get more touches.  His defense is also extraordinary.

So, I think Doc should make Perk the sixth man off the bench with the second team.  (Let Sheed start.)  Perk could become a go to guy for the second unit.  He may even shoot an even higher percentage against the other teams second string as well.  I would rather see him taking shots in the paint than seeing BBD on the second team having his lunch handed to him any time he tries to shoot in the paint.

Sheed and Baby aren't a good combination on the floor - but we saw last year that Perk and Baby made a good combination on the floor.  This move is a no-brainer.  The second team is good, this will make them better.

Doc - don't be so stubborn and give this a try.  Though it may seem like a demotion from first string to second string, if you made Perk a go to guy for the second unit, it may not be perceived as a demotion.  Think about it.  You have to do something and this might also solve your locker room problems, second team performance issues, etc ...

I'm a huge fan of Doc.  However, every person in the world has blind spots....places they don't look for answers because it would never occur to them..

Doc, I believe, is a Scorpio.  Scorpios are some of the most stubborn creatures alive.  (I know, my mom's a scorpio, she's yet to take a single piece of advice from me....that's over 4 decades of not taking advice).

So Doc, realize that you are a Scorpio.  Look in the mirror and say to yourself the following:  If I were not so stubborn, what would would I do?  Whatever answer comes to you, do that.

Bench every player that isn't giving it their all until they play harder.
Back to wanting Joe fired.

Francona would play his slumping players until they hit homeruns in the playoffs.  (Bellhorn, Millar, Drew)

Is Francona a scorpio too?

There is a possibility that what Doc's doing is the right thing.

Can someone answer this question... "What did Shelden do to get in Doc's doghouse?"  Was it just because Baby came back?

Not sure. Maybe it's because Sheldon's poor stats. Only 3pts per game.

If a player doesn't bust his tail on defense, he needs to sit his butt down.

I don't think the NBA will allow for 2 on 5 games

And therein lies the problem some nights

It's not a player here or there that doesn't play hard, it's almost up and down the roster completely

So what do you do then?

Probably exactly what Doc is doing

Stay the course and try to get into these guys heads because as cliche as Danny and Doc sounds, the biggest problem with this team lies squarely between the ears of all the players
Pick 2 Knicks

PG: George Hill, Ty Lawson
SG: Ray Allen, Anthony Parker, Quentin Richardson
SF: Grant Hill, Matt Barnes, D
PF: Zach Randolph, Kenyon Martin, Jon Brockman, Dante Cunningham
C:  Nene Hilario,   Own rights: Nikola Pekovic IR: Kyle Weaver

The more famously stubborn sign is Taurus.  Scorpio doesn't have the rep. but is nontheless very hardheaded...
