Let's just hope Tommy doesn't pull a Kornheiser and comment on her wardrobe and get himself suspended

I'm not sure I could take extended amounts of Donny Marshall as color commentator
Touche

Wonder if Violet Palmer is reffing the game.  Tommy always has a less-then-PC comment about her skills.

i always cringe when violet palmer refs a game because i am scared that tommy will say something over the top and get fired.

also, please remember, MM is not doing color, she is doing play by play.

She is too good looking to do a job where the camera isn't showing her 95% of the time. Is she really doing play by play? This could be a trainwreck. The unintentional comedy should be high enough that it will make a game against the nets watchable.

at least it isnt tanguay :D
Exactly what I was going to say.  Maria won't kiss Tommy's rear end all game.  I just hope she does well and we all at least listen with an open mind.

Bottom line, she ain't Gorman, but she ain't Tanguay either.

I wonder if somebody started a thread on this or else I would be extremely surprised, nobody has mentioned that Tommy kissed Maria at the end of her broadcast?  I thought somebody would've at least mentioned something.

Yeah, that Maria and Tommy lip-lock at the end was kind of uncomfortable to watch.

But what I thought was really awkward was Maria's pathetic attempt at play by play. She was so in over her head that I was embarrassed for her. Well, initially, at least. She spent most of her "play-calling" time virtually silent, or merely repeating what the arena announcer was saying.

Fortunately, I think somebody in the control room noticed this, because Gorman was back on the mic well before the quarter was over.

Didn't take someone in the control room to notice that lol

Either way it was enjoyable to have her on even if the play-by-play was painfully embarrassing.

I still thought it was fun!

I couldn't tell what happened.  At first it seemed like she was supposed to do the play by play right after they introduced her but she froze up and Gorman had to cover for her.  But after they came back from the break Gorman said, I'm gonna hand over the play by play mic and let Maria try.

She is perfect in every way though.

I think it would've been better if she was there as a guest analyst rather than a play by play person. It's quite easy when you're not there, but when everything is moving so fast it takes quite a bit of practice to get up to speed.

I saw her do a quarter the other night and was not impressed with the giggling and kissing Tommy and Tommy falling all over himself for her like he's never sat by a woman before. I like Doris; she seems serious. Not sure about Maria and whether her high voice/giggling will get on my nerves too much..sorta like Sarah Palin gets to me because of the whining screachiness.
But I say, hey, give her a chance.

This experiment was a terrible idea that went on for far too long.  I was embarrassed for her.
