Well - if all we have to go on is mystique, magic, hope and trust in Doc and Danny, I think the question is answered for me -- No.

And I don't blame you or anyone else here for that mindset...it's certainly tough to look through the clouds.

But I just recall a few proud moments in Celtics History...times when it seemed like we were done:

2007-2008 NBA Finals Game 4.....

1987 or 88 Playoff VS Detroit: "It's the Steal by Bird!!! Passes underneath to DJ who Lays It In!!!

2002 NBA Playoffs...who would've thought that Pierce and Antoine Walker would come that close to taking us to the Finals?

Plus numerous games I cannot even recall. And a few this season.

Still a few games left, and a lot of life left in Our Celtics.

All good stuff, but none of it wins you anything if you do not have the horses, and the Celts simply do not have them.

Agreed.

Those who keep pointing out "if this happens" and "we'll get it together come the playoffs" are living in a dreamworld. The evidence suggests this team is going to be eliminated in the second round. If they're lucky enough to get there.

You are acting like the if statements are out of a dreamworld, when in reality they are relying on this team getting to the point where we were in DECEMBER.

This team (like last year's team) was made for a first-three-months sprint. Then the age, decline and injuries started to catch up with them. It's not going to be better come April/May.

Does anyone here REALLY think Boston can beat two of ATL, CLE, ORL and THEN beat LA in the finals? I'd suggest anyone who does is kidding themselves.

I think alot of posters who hope they do well in the playoffs, like myself, readily acknowledge that they have problems.

But honestly, what do those posters like yourselves and others who think we live in "a dreamworld" and post this want more positive thinking posters to do? go cry themselves to sleep at night? stop rooting for the team? be as down in the dumps and pessimistic as yourself and others?

Some people can be aware that the team is not playing great basketball, make the logical connection that they are most likely not going to have enough to win it all this year, but still hope for the best. IT doesn't make us oblivious idiots, as the tone of alot of these post implie.

That is what irks me about the blog lately. It seems like if you don't expect failure, your dismissed as a homer. Mabey i'm just no as inclined to embrace the negative as some other posters. That doesn't mean i turn a blind eye to our problems, and we have a bunch. It simply means I try to hope for the best, rather than prepare for the worst.

people need to realize that posters can be aware that the Celtics are not a great team right now and still root for them without being a moron in a basketball sense, despite what some posters seem to imply about those who choose to hope for the best rather than prepare themselves for failure and disappointment. It doesn't make us naive. it doesn't make us oblivious to the current team. It's just how we choose to root for and enjoy the team.

Last time i checked, we are not required to abandon all hope and faith in the team to have a valid opinion on the celtics. We all love this team, and there's no extra "points" for being a poster who hopes for the best or one who assumes the worst.

We all embrace the team differently, thats what makes us a great community.

I choose to do that by being positive. I wish i was allowed to do that without being told im "in a dreamworld" or "kidding myself"

That's your opinion of such posters, and it's fine and logically may be correct, but my decision not to be negative and dismiss our chances does not make my or other posters thoughts on the team invalid.

Well, sure. I hope for the best too. But "the best" for me no longer includes the possibility of a title. You can call that pessimistic but it is, based on what I've seen from this team, reality.

I'd love to be wrong. But I don't think I am.

That is Awfully Close to characterizing how I see things..not exactly, but close.

Tommy Point.

Yes I do see the struggling, but I've seen it over 30 years now, too.

I've also seen the Improbable Wins..comebacks...things that make the Boston Celtics different from most other teams.

This is why I still Believe that Boston can win it this year...and I will until someone beats them in a Seven Game series.
