And I mean superstars...top ten player.  It is clear that the Big 3 are no more.  And the only team I can recall winning a title without a true super is Det (and even they had Billups).

I think that is what it comes down to.  A team needs a superstar (or two) to compete for a title and this team has none left.  The Big 3 has aged right before our very eyes and I am afraid the yongest of them is in for a precipitous fall.  Sure, PP is hurt but of all of them, I think is will be the quickest one to fall.

Sucks but oh well, I still would not trade #18 for all the draft picks (and potential) in the world.

I agree with the top ten player thing.  And you are right about the Pistons except they had the most dominant superstar of a defender and rebounder of that era on their team(Wallace).  I disagree that Paul will be the quickest to fall.  KG has already fallen and Ray is declining.  Paul will be a good player for several more years.  He just won't be able to drive by guys as much.

I thought KG was still a top 10 player, or at least close to it, when he was healthy earlier this season.

I thought so as well, but the team's definitely on the Detroit model. In 07-08 we had 3 great players and 2 decent players. Now our great players have regressed but our decent players have improved considerably.
