Who stood up and were shouted down when they said veterans yes but the team has got be younger. The ones who said blood the youth in game time situations or simply throw them out there and lets see what they can do (surely no worse than some of the other kids getting thrown out there). Hats off to you all.

The formula to beaiting this Celtics team is simple, Out run them, Out gun them, out last them. they can't play 4 quarters on those old legs and with the bench featuring undersized big men, 2 guards playing as points  and Mr Intangibles etc they can't look there too often.

The veteran strategy has failed - I pray the Cs do the sensible thing and get younger.

I don't think there's a member of this blog, (who has been here for any length of time), who hasn't had an unpopular opinion, or one that was "shouted down" for one reason or another, on multiple occasions. But it is a bit rare to see someone patting themselves on the back and calling themselves "The brave amongst us" for that reason.

I guess it does take a bit of courage to devote a whole thread to making such a declaration, but I personally gravitate toward the more humble opinions, and find more integrity in those who avoid the "I told you so" approach. Besides, a team that's 32 & 18 and still first in their division, is a long, long way from their strategy having "failed".  ::)

Bit over dramatic don't you think?

I think everyone here has had an opinion that's been either unpopular or wrong at one time or another. It doesn't make you a martyr or one of some brave few, fighting against the injustice of those who don't agree with you.

To say that this is a pat on the back is taking it a bit to far. It is of course an "I told you so". I am always amazed at the idea that someone who pointed out something out and was shouted down only to be vindicated later should be denied the right to point this out - there is no lack of integrity in that unless the meaning of integrity has changed somewhere along the line. For the record this was not an opinion held by one it was held by many hence the use of the plural.

In gravitating towards more humble opinions yourself it may be expedient to humbly accept that a point being made may be true instead of making very thinly veiled attempts to ridicule that opinion. with regards to the assertion that the strategy has failed, in respect of success in the regular season I challenge anyone to say it has succeeded. I think the goal was a touch loftier than not bad if we are being honest with ourselves.

Especially when their declarations haven't yet been proven true. Does anyone really think that playing Giddens/Walker/Shelden or maybe bringing back Hudson will solve any of our problems? I could say that we're blowing leads because Perk's not playing point guard. Unless they try it and it fails I'll have to assume that it will work.

Said opinion assumes that the youth on this team is NBA caliber, which most assuredly has not been proven - although that assumption is as regular on this blog as the daily rising of the sun. As long as I've been here, the next great Celtic has ALWAYS been the one Doc doesn't play, and that's NEVER worked out. You should have seen the furor over Brandon Hunter and Orien Greene, let alone the idiotic man-crushes on Gerald Green, yet for the life of me I can't seem to find them in the league anywhere.

Ergo, vindication is premature and totally unsupported by fact.

Sorry.

Thinly veiled attempt? I stated very clearly that we are still one of the best teams in the NBA and that our strategy has far from "failed" .... as for the rest, you might want to read it again ... if this is not a pat on the back, then the definition has changed drastically ... I was also trying to be non-offensive with my response, and buffer those who may have replied in a much more antagonistic fashion. This is the kind of post that can leave a bad taste in people's mouths, though you are certainly entitled to saying it ... I just don't think it fosters any kind of positive discussion or result, but is only meant as an attempt to rub others noses in the fact that they may have been wrong. You obviously felt the need to do so, and that's your right, but it's also the right of the rest of us to take exception to that approach, especially when this team's strategy has not remotely reached the point of failure.

In what way do you think you were vindicated? If you call for Doc to play the young guys and then Doc plays the young guys and good things happen then your theory would be vindicated. As of now it's at best unproven one way or the other.
