If and when we do trade Ray, I really hope Danny sits him down and explains to him that he is welcome back after the season in a deal similar to Rasheed's (three years at the MLE) and that he means a lot to this franchise and that the only reason we are trading him is because of an opportunity to stay strong for years to come, not because he isn't productive anymore...

TP for similar idea of mine. I'd rather us trade with a team that is soling looking for a salary dump and that would buyout Ray. He could then come back in 30 days, sign for the vet min, and resign next year for a deal similar to Sheed's.

I still hope we could do a trade of Monta Ellis & Maggette for Ray Allen, Bill Walker & JR Giddens. Somehow I think Nellie could make those guys players in his system. And if Philly is looking to start all over I would at least see if they would be willing to do a Andre Igoudala & Elton Brand deal for Ray Allen, Glen Davis, Bill Walker & JR Giddens deal. That would give us a prolific punch off the bencg with Rasheed Wallace & Elton who is a offensive rebounding machine. And those guys are very interchangable with Perk & Garnett. And those deals do work in trade checker.
I haven't seen that idea yet, but I think its great, besides the fact that Brand is old and injury prone. Trading for Brand would make us more of a threat now but force us to rebuild in a couple years. But if we trade for Dalembert, who can still rebound well when motivated, and would force Sheed to play PF, then we would have some options in 2011-2012 as we do now.
Can't stop, Rondo!

If we don't trade Ray and we get ousted in the first round... I think we'll regret not trading him.  Next year will look kind of gloomy.  This is the worst possible outcome.

If we trade Ray for a good young player and get ousted in the first round then at least we go into next year with a little hope.

People want to trade Ray because it avoids the worst possible outcome.

I think Danny will lowball everybody in hopes of landing a Rudy Gay type but if he doesn't I think this team with Ray Allen will recognize that this is the last year for the Big Three experiment and I think they'll go all out.

It's not like these guys haven't been there before.

EXACTLY....The way things have gone so far this season, I think we're in for a 2nd round exit this year.

KEEP Ray: One year window
TRADE Ray: Three year window once again and beyond.

Danny always said he wanted this team to compete EVERY Year.

We won a title - this was worth it ... they have time to turn the team over, and they will attempt to ... and doing this made us a winner franchise, and something that can recruit people.  we'll see if the half life is good.
